Hmmm, I'm usually a sucker for an Amex offer but even I may have to pass up. Nice if you're in the market for some hi-fi equipment anyway!

Have some heat!

Not actually a bad deal for those who do spend thousands on entertainment systems, I'd love to take advantage of this deal but 3 kids and a dog that loves expensive chew sticks will mean that I will stick to my sound bars (nothing wrong with them), but seriously you hear an expensive sound system and you got spare cash then I for one would buy, so this deal is a hot from me. Heat added

Heat from me, most people will not spend £3k but does not mean it's not a good deal if you are/have the money to. A free TV worth £400 is not to be sniffed at!

A good deal for those already spending that sort of money, have some heat.

Im sorry, but if you are spending more than 3 grand on audio system only, then you would not be hooking it up to a 42" telly, more like 60"+

i expect they would end up in another room/ebay...

I just had a quick look on their site and this is the only TV that matches the info given in the T&C's, if anyone is interested:

Thought this was spend £3k on your credit card and get a free tv, now that would be a deal. Instead spend £3k on stuff you could get for £2500 shopping around, and get a £400 tv. No spank you. Cooooooolllllllllddddddd.

Possibly - but its more likely that you would just want a better TV Perfect for a second room/bedroom though. Nice deal imo, have some heat

never would i spend £3k in richer sounds. they do not have a big enough offer of products and i can find the same cheaper elsewhere now. Sadly, it's not the discount store it was 12 years ago.

Not bad, but someone dropping £3k on AV kit isn't generally going to be using a TV that cheap. Still, wouldn't say no to a free one! Hot!

Spot on there.

So you get an average TV worth 11% or less of the value of your purchase when you spend >£3000.

If the deal was 'Save 11% when you spend £3000 at Richer Sounds' (which would be a better offer than this) then this deal would have no traffic at all.

But all the HKUD suckers can't resist the 'FREE TV!!!!!!' headline and have to vote it hot.

Clever marketing by Richer Sounds - they get a front page HKUD exposure in exchange for giving an unspectacular discount with a high minimum spend.

They should at least tell us what model it is! The cheapest 42inch LG on amazon is £419 - the 42LN575V
richersounds.com/pro…75v

You wouldn't expect this to get hooked up to the 3Ks worth of equipment, but it'll go nicely in the butler's conservatory.

Thank you!:p

I add heat to your comment.

This tiny, peasant television-box would be fine entertainment for one's exotic budgerigars.

(Please don't ask what I was thinking when I wrote this. I need to go to bed)

Buy £3000 of kit using a non-Amex card = no tv.

Use an Amex card = a free TV, so it's got to be a great deal.

The fact that you wouldn't buy from there, wouldn't spend £3000 on stereo etc etc is irrelevant, the offer isn't for you.

But if you're in the store making the purchase - using the AMEX card is a no brainer.

NEEDS to be MOVED to FREEBIES!!!
its not a deal to please everyone and not everyone can afford £3,000 on a kit like that these days.

Nice too see they accept AMEX now as they didn't 5 years ago.

I.d have to disagree a recession tends to make the rich richer and a lot of entrepreneurs richer and the poor businesses go bust, recessions are the time to make money.

So someone who would spend this amount on Hifi or TV will likely carry on spending, unless living beyond their means of course

It'll be only for this offer, I bet!

Out of a 3K spend, I wonder how much they charge on the installation?. Personally I wouldn't pay anyone to install my AV gear, that'd be taking away part of the fun

if they can give away a £400 tv then their installation profit margin is obviously too much

Have you checked the stuff they sell now? Harman Kardon is hardly the best on the market and as for Pioneer they make some of the best AV amps around.

Richersounds sell some excellent kit these days its not like back in the day when they stacked older stock and sold them off dirt cheap. I dont class Cyrus, Monitor Audio, Dynaudio, Focal, Grado etc etc as poor brands far from it.

There are hundreds of deals on this site that I'd never buy, including this one. But just because I wouldn't buy them doesn't make them bad deals. I'd never buy £3000 of equipment from anywhere - but someone is buying it. And the deal is - buy it with a free telly or buy it without a free telly. To me that sounds like a good deal for that person whichever way you look at it.

If I pay 3k for a hifi I wouldn't bother with £400 tv

Another sofiasar classic.

Where do these people who say they're buying cheaper than richersounds shop? In the last 2 years I've bought an onkyo receiver, a high end mission subwoofer, a pair of surround rears from Wharfedale and a pair of AKG 450 headphones and they've spanked the competition on price. They're customer service is second to none as well. Plus, If you're based in the Republic of Ireland, they're you're only real high end audio option and they don't fleece you despite knowing this. They ship from Belfast at standard UK prices. As far as I'm concerned they're in a retailer league of their own.

Agree entirely, they show Currys / PC World how it should be done
