£72 is too much
Doesn’t feel like a bargain.... and giving away crappy Toshiba
I just got a new contract 2 weeks ago through friends and family. 100meg, TiVo v6 with Sky Movies for 3 months and the phone line, £28 a month.
So might be best seeing if you have a mate who works for Virgin

I wouldn't really call it a "crappy" tv. I've got one of these and it's absolutely fine, regardless of what people might think if the deal it's not a bad tv in itself.
Oh look another new customer deal I cant have.
Can’t comment as I don’t watch sports so unsure how much these cost... but I’m on the old package and if I was to switch to the bigger package which is equivalent of my current one... we’d be spending a lot more, it works out about £20+ a month. Really not sure why they changed the bundles! The old huddles use to all get the freebie when they did one, but this tv only on the most expensive bundles
My 200 meg broadband only with them has gone up from 36 to 40 quid mid contract and a £10 discount I have ends January so will be a whopping £50 for just broadband. I am moving house in December or January so doing nothing and will probably avoid virgin.
Tut.
Also looks like topcashback may be giving you £160 cashback as well as the TV too

Ring up and cancel if your out of contract. I did and they offered an ok deal but couldn't beat my friends and family. They rang a few days after I cancelled for a better deal, I said no, then 3 weeks later offered a better again but still wasn't good enough.
£50 for broadband alone is shocking

My 70mb download internet obly went from 36 to 41. So I quit.

Went to ee in shop for 26 a month (though same as vodafone online) get 70mb download but 18mb upload (was 3.5 with virgin) so much better for uploading youtube videos for my son.

I switched my phpne from bt to ee and get bt sports via that. 'Phone only' but works on windows 10 app on any pc!

Can get now tv for other sports (I use hotstar) and netflix via turkey!
Worst company ever, avoid. Even has its dissatisfied customers on its own fb page.
Those down nvoting need to go onto the Sky site and see how much the same/similar packages cost! Been with them 10 months on the original VIP package (2 V6 boxes, just about every conceivable channel both sports and entertainment either in in HD or 4K, 350mm BB, 24/7 landline calls incl mobiles). Some people actually see the increases as bad news - they aren't! This is a money saving site and frequenters of this site should see increases for what they are - an opportunity to cancel earlier penalty free or, even better, get a great retention deal earlier!

I rang them a couple of days ago to cancel due to the 4.50/mth increase. TOP TIP: be very polite, praise the service (not hard, what we get for the money is amazing, certainly in the first 12 months) but just basically say finances are tight and any increase causes us to re-evaluate whether we can justify paying the increased amount and in this case we can't.

Did just this and ended up getting the Ultimate Oomph (same as VIP but with 516mb BB and UNLIMITED MOBILE SIM thrown in, I can now cancel my 32/mth Voddy 50GB mobile contract when it ends in 2 months time)) for 85/mth on a new 12 month contract. I was so amazed to be offered this immediately I broke my rule of always saying no to the first offer or I'm sure I could have probably wangled a bill credit out of them also. But more than happy with the deal i got and no real hassle at all.

170 quid Quidco cahback and a TV you could easily sell for 250 quid on the Ultimate Oomph package is absolutely unbetable in the industry. And STILL sticking to 12 months min contracts whereas Sky have migrated to disgraceful 18 mth min contracts. Sell the TV for 250 plus the 170 cashback and it effectuively takes 35/mth off the price, leaving the net cost at 54/mth. Like I say, can't be beat.

Heat added.

Stop looking, there simply isn't one. Plus Sky insist on min 18 mth contracts these days, thereby diluting any cashback offers.

You just aren't thinking this through! It's not 72/mth when you take into account the cashback and TV (or bill credit). 220 Quidco cashback on the Bigger Bundle with sports PLUS either a TV you could easily seel for 250 quid OR 150 quid bill credit. Let's take the easy route and go bill credit. Total cashback 370 over 12 months. Effectively reduces your monthly bill to 41/mth. Sound better?

Hardly rocket science.

You are forgetting the 220 Quidco cashback and either the 150 bill credit or the TV you could easily sell for 250 IMO. Best case scenario would be 394 for the year! 33/mth

I'm sure you can leave penalty free, or even better threaten to cancel and see what they say. You may be very surprised. Have you called them to complain?
Struggling to understand why this is going cold? Do people just dislike Virgin? The 500 meg BB alone is £89 pm, so this looks like a steal unless im missing something?

Agreed, hence my embarrassing amount of posts in this thread i could understand some of the responses in here if this wasn't a money saving site (presumably) populated by people who can see the bigger picture when it comes to bargains but some of the responses have me genuinely shaking my head..

One thing about virgin that annoys me, mid contract they put the price up

It's actually great news on account of you being able to leave penalty free or, even better, negotiate another 12 month contract at a great price, much less than the price it would increase to after the introductory 12 months offer price.
