Android box, without doubt.

I disagree - got both of these (stick in the bedroom and TV in living room) and have it running exceptionally well - very fast, Kodi works perfectly. Even have Sky Go installed

Agree too, although I see the box is now £79 which was £64 last week

Do you have any links on how to install Sky Go?

Can you tell me how you put sky go on the Amazon stick

Thanks

Yeah +1 for sky go

Sky Go doesn't work. I got installed the apk on my fire box and it loaded and I signed in but couldn't watch anything as it thinks you are trying to cast it (to another screen/device) and states it is not allowed.

Not sure if there is a cracked version that disables that.

I want to wait little while until it down to £20, while am happy with chromecast at the moment. Anyway decent price, heat for me!

Been looking for the best device to put Kodi on after my ATV2 no longer supports updates. (Still works a charm for now)
Which android box do people reccomend? Thx guys

Get it for £15 from Tesco if you use Clubcard boost.

I've got a Chromecast and relatively happy with it - although we only use it for Casting eBay/Amazon etc, as we've got an Xbox One with Plex on. That said, we wanted to give XBMC/kodi a try again and my partner installed it on her Mac, hadn't tested streaming it to the TV but, then saw this was on offer so went and bought one from Tesco because we're impatient :D. - Chromecast is now up for sale, the TV Stick is, imo a much better device. We only got it Sunday and it's been used quite a bit already. Now to sell the Chromecast.

+1 for Fire TV Stick (and even better TV Box) over Android Box. I find it a lot smoother and have a lot less crashes.

Would someone enlighten me as to why kodi is so good (and presumably works on this)

Install TVMC (customised version of Kodi) ...it'll install all the popular addons for you and keep them updated automatically...

The other thread from a couple of days ago has all the answers. That comes with the £5 voucher too.

You would be far better off googling what Kodi does, some people on hukd get in a little fettle if you mention why you have Kodi.

TVMC is horrendous, there are plenty other builds out there that are much better, and are just as user friendly to install.

Why is it "horrendous"? Have just installed it alongside vanilla Kodi and seems ok. Has some good add ons already installed so will probably suit most people who are on here having to ask these types of questions anyway.

I must be getting old now as I'm sick and tired of fiddling with things to get them to work/look right and realised I have wasted so much time in the past just because my android phone/tablet etc could do certain things.

Just install the latest Kodi from the official site. And add the few add-ons you need. Not sure what this fascination with other builds is all about. It's likely most people will never use most of the stuff these other builds install for you. It's not difficult, it runs smooth and less likely chance of broken repos/addons.

As Rickardo said ...I can't be arsed installing addons one by one....TVMC is ideal but just wondering what else is out there.......rather it was just plug and play...

I have an ATV at home, but want to get an android box pre loaded - see lots on fleabay - but does anyone have any recommendations - I have no idea about which is the best - would need to stream well wirelessly and not via ethernet.
Any assistance appreciated

Maybe I should of rephrased it, I find it to be horrendous, others might like it.

It comes preloaded with addons that don't work unless routed through VPN due to the UK Courts requiring ISP's to block access.

They are lagging behind, custom community builds can be lighter, and have more content resulting in less unneeded addons, and less crashes. Not to mention, for the people with limited knowledge, also puts favourites right in front of them.

With TVMC, I find you still need to then get more addons installed, with community builds you don't.

I suppose it depends on how many you need (want?). The actual installation of Kodi and TVMC is exactly the same, it's just the additional add-ons anyone needs to install that takes a little extra time. How long does that take? A few mins once you know the repo details. People might learn something too. Plus as per my last comment, most people probably will never use all the stuff that TVMC (and its ilk) install anyway.

Looks nice!

Pity it does not do all the uk on demand apps like itv player

Not totally ideal but we've put stv player on it (had to look for a Scottish post code first lol). Got most of the itv content we watch.

don't get pre loaded one. easy enough to set yourself.

when I first got kodi I installed all the repos stuff. I then did a reset and have now got about 5/6 add ons which cover me for everything. having everything is overkill and slows the system down. at first its exciting having all these add ons but after a bit, you just stick to the regular ones.

I wish...I am not that techie - although I have upgraded the software via ATV so getting there slowly. I would have no idea with android products. So....any recommendations on a box please?

I agree! personally I think amazon tv stick is better than chromecast (depends on what we use it for). Especially if you want to stream live channels all around the world. it is fantastic.
