But if I did print the voucher off and go to the gym for 5 days for free I would feel guilty at not doing the British Heart Foundation Million Miles thing for the charity, nope, not good, feels like robbing a charity to me:-(.

Never EVER sign a contract with Fitness First, utter joke of a company.

you could always just do the miles worth of exercise while your at the Gym for the 5 days. All you need to do is pick up a card and pay the £2 suggested donation.

Yep exactly that - eventually got out of my contract with them after receiving seriously worded letters and being threatened with debt collectors for cancelling my direct debit a whole two months after filling out my leaving form (I was well out of my contract period). DO NOT sign up with Fitness First. :x

Having worked for Fitness First as a "membership sales consultant" I would say tread with care. As soon as you fill out the card you will be entered into a lead box and you can expect to be called on numerous occasions with the usual patter.

Under no circumstances provide a valid mobile/ home number for yourself or for your friends "that might be interested" in joining or this is what will happen........................................

Hi its (insert name) calling from Fitness First, your friend (a number they have just harvested from a member whilst walking round the club/ or the numbers you have provided earlier used against another unexpecting mug at a later date) has put you forward for a free trial, isn't that great (sounding really disingenuous as always) would you like to come down for a tour of the facility and a free coffee, then they'll proceed to give you two dates and times. The theory behind this is that unlike saying when is good for you, as you would expect, they have just corralled you into doing it- no room for uncertainty.

(RECAP just to make sure you get the lead will attend) "Well thats great i'll see you at said club at said date, I look forward to meeting you.

It's the ultimate cold calling scam which they can justify as being "warm" calling as someone either you, or a friend has provided the details of the lead.

ps nothing against fitness first bannatynes are sending me 2 texts and a postcard each week at the moment as I took them up on a "free trial" in may. Forgetting the Golden Rule don't give proper contact details!
