Free £5 when you load £10 (can withdraw immediately) and perfect exchange rate @ Revolut (prepaid Mastercard)

The prepaid Mastercard from Revolut gives the perfect interbank rate for euros, dollars and more. It's fee-free for the first year, after which it may start charging a 1% fee (or a small fixed fee). There are no cash withdrawal or spending fees, plus if you use the invite code MSE when signing up, it'll add an extra £5 if you load £10 or more.

It's managed via an app, meaning you can load, exchange and withdraw funds with the touch of a few buttons. Once it's loaded, you can spend anywhere in the world where Mastercard's accepted.

Need-to-knows

You get the perfect interbank rate when you exchange, though Revolut reserves the right to start charging a 1% exchange fee (or a small fixed fee) after 12 months. You'll be notified if it's going to start charging.
You can hold pounds, euros and dollars on the card, and exchange between them instantly. So, if you have cash left over after your holiday, just swap it back to pounds, and use the card here.
You can spend in more than 80 currencies (not just euro, dollar or pound). When you spend, the card automatically exchanges from your balances at the interbank rate for that currency.
You need to request the card in the app once you've signed up - it won't arrive automatically.
The card takes up to 10 working days to arrive.
Revolut's card provider is FCA regulated, meaning money you deposit is ring-fenced (in a Barclays account), so in the event there are problems with Revolut, the money's safe.

I've just topped up the £10 on my debit card and withdrawn the £15 back into my current account

It's run by people who would put their name on the website and say 'We are a bunch of young entrepreneurial people who are'.... Also, they compare the cost of email messages to money transactions. Emails are unregulated and hence we get a lot of spam. I would welcome money transaction 'into' my account for any currency in the world. How likely is that going to happen? Beware...

Its a new company so watch out guys.

Is this app only, or can it be managed via their regular website ?

So little information out there about this company. Where did you read that?

Very little info out there about this card so I would be wary of giving my details away.

If it's come from MSE would they not have checked them out?

Like they check out M1ghty Deals? oO

From MSE website:

Important prepaid card info:

a) These are new, untested cards to us. They should work but there's a small leap of faith here. For fully tried & tested, FairFX Euro* & FairFX Dollar* are free via these links if you load £50+ and give £8 on £500+.
b) These usually arrive within 10 days, but can take longer.
c) To be safe, only load cash on the cards if you'll use them soon.
d) If the prepaid card provider goes bust, your money's ringfenced at a bank. Revolut & FairFX are Barclays, WeSwap at Barclays/NatWest.
e) Unlike the others, WeSwap's isn't UK-regulated, the card's issued by IDT, regulated in Gibraltar - so you're ultimately reliant on its regulations to protect you (a lot must go wrong though before this matters).

Hmmm

Requires Android 4.2 and up......so fairly recent phone required.

They refunded me £15 twice, so I'm £20 up

Why is this not hotter? Wonderful product - highly recommended

If you're a bit of a stinge you can top up by €10 (£7.30) instead and still get the £5 free!

I'm using it in the Republic Of Ireland and it works just fine.

HEAT!

was told about this in another thread, just pre ordered a PS4 game using this by linking it to my PayPal account. (black ops III for £29.99 :D)

Signed up, but forgot to add the promo code in doh! ... Asked support who said no they wouldnt add it as the code has been abused..... Not exactly helpful

I then had to ask a number of times for the account to be cancelled and said I would think about coming back later.
Account cancelled now, but unable to re-register as it said numbers already registered. And not able to log in with my original number or pin.

so looks like theyve locked me out completely lol and couldnt go back if I wanted
Not the most professional eChat Ive had... Seems like a good concept though.

I saw this again on here earlier but can't find the thread now. I had a BAD experience.

Signed up only to get an error when I tried to withdraw. Not to worry I thought, I'll use it to pay for a gift card. That didn't work either, declined.. The person on support chat didn't seem to know what the problem was and said that I should verify my account. That involves taking a passport pic via your phone, it's annoying over a trivial amount of money and a data concern but okay. The app however has a weird system where you can't manually take the pic and instead it takes it when it deems it to be aligned.. Well, it must be buggy because it didn't ever take the picture despite minutes of trying. Fed up with this I was then told that I'd have to "send 4 photos (front and back of ID, ID next to your face and selfie) to" an email address.

By this point I was thoroughly fed up with this crap and so asked them just to refund my payment to which I'm told (eventually) "can you not just send the photos". I'm now at the point where I'm told that I will receive my £10 back within 3 days, but who knows. The app keeps crashing my phone too. Terrible experience.

has anybody received actually £15 back from them?

Rubbish.
Just checked my bank statement, and only got the original £10 I topped up with back when I supposedly withdrew £15 showing on my Revolut app activity/history - credit came from "THE CURRENCY CLOUD" from what I can gather.

I got £15 back so all good here

It took 15 quid out and gave 15quid back lol how pointless

It worked ok for me.

Used revolut on recent holiday to florida,it was the only card I took, loaded cash in pounds, converted to dollars upon arrival, converted back to sterling.on return.Faultless.!

They don't give perfect rates as I've just seen. I just got 5.82 for pounds to zlotty and Google rates are claiming it should be closer to 5.9

I have just used the Revolut card in Dubai for 2 weeks, absolutely brilliant,
no problems with payment anywhere, one problem with an ATM but used the one next door,
different bank, no problem, I would highly recommend. Interested to see if they apply a fee
after the first 12 months
