After 6 months it's £5 a month

It's been a while since the BT Group acquired mobile network EE and now we're seeing the fruit of that alliance. All EE pay monthly customers, new and existing, will be able to access BT's sports channels for free for six months.

Access is through the BT Sport mobile app for phone and tablet. All of the channels are available to stream live through the application: BT Sport, BT Sport 2, BT Sport Europe and ESPN on BT Sport.

As long as you have a pay monthly handset, tablet or SIM only plan for iOS, Android or Windows you will be able to sign up for the free access. After six months, you can either cancel the subscription or carry on, paying £5 a month.

EE customers on pay monthly packages will be able to sign up to and use the BT Sport app for free from 27 July.

I don't think it includes business phones/users. It's normally for residential customers only.

Fantastic. Now I don't feel tied in to BT Broadband

Thanks OP, my contact is ending soon and I'd been considering moving to EE, this might clinch it!

Good to know. Thanks OP.

Chromecast isn't brilliant with the app but at least it works

Is there a date you have to sign up by? heat added thanks op

Does this work for sim only plans or just pay monthly?

I wonder if Life mobile numbers will work as they are a trading name of EE.

Does anybody know if you can AirPlay the app via iOS to the tv? If so, is the quality "good enough"?

I've definitely used AirPlay with the iPad app - I wonder if there's certain types of account that are blocked?

Does this include t-mobile / orange monthly deals ?

Reading on tech radar's link, the streams will come out of your data package rather than across wi-fi.

That's annoying for those of us not interested in any sportball as all that extra streaming could well slow down the EE data network which is marginal at times. Only hope is the EE monthly data caps will mean this will be wifi only for most.

Shame it doesn't include EE Broadband customers!!

3. It'll use your data allowance
This won't come as much of a surprise – it would have been a massive bonus if it didn't take your bytes to watch this sport. EE told us that the rise of watching football on the go inspired the offer, with a big spike in catching some action on the go showing there's an appetite for it.
However, make sure you've got a decent bundle if you're going to be keeping up with the latest sporting shenanigans – you could be munching up to 2GB of data on a phone if you're going to watch the whole match and hoover up the half time show too.

Already mentioned in the OP.

I've used it with iPhone too. Air playing to an Apple TV if that makes any difference.

So you have to use data allowance and can't use Chromecast ? Well, that's b*llocks then.

Thats only when you're not connected to WIFI

So I'm already in a monthly contract, does this mean I can get it? I know it might appear to be a stupid question

Surely that goes without saying - like any other time you stream something. Why would they have specifically mentioned it otherwise?

I'm hoping you right, but...
