Free 6 Months Sky+HD for Leavers

39
Found 17th Mar 2017
Just had this mailed through as left these blood suckers over a year ago. Seems like a no-brainer -
"We’re sorry you’ve left Sky, but you can still enjoy some of the great features of your Sky+ HD Box, free for six months.
Sky+ normally costs £10 a month, so you’ll save £60 over six months. There’s no contract, and the service will expire after six months without you being charged a thing. But hurry, the offer ends on 30 September."

No rush then oO
wonder if i'll qualify ? i left a few weeks ago but haven't had such an email
rubbish really
I am no lover of Sky, but that is no reason to vote a freebie cold. I usually pay £10 a month for this until I recently got it free, a saving of £120 a year.
yeah it's a bit pathetic to vote it cold just because you don't like sky. if i can get this, it'll do me a huge favour until i can save up the money for a humax freesat box. won't have any kind of recording facility otherwise.
Likewise here.
Heat.
Will make use of this, plus should still be able to use Sky Go app.

rubbish really

why not post where you can get it cheaper then?
They tell you the sky box is yours that you own it, if so then they shouldn't be allowed to charge you £10 a month to use your own sky box to record freeview channels... grrr

didnt mention anything about cheaper. its rubbish as most of us get 12 months full package discounts when rejoining

Yes, the box is yours but the proprietary software that enables the sky plus facilities is theirs so they're not going to give that away for free.
I've had the same offer valid till 23rd of March. Done.
I left Sky in November and been receiving 60% off.
This is a no brainier in my book. I'll use it for 6 months for free.
Shouldn't be cold.
i'm on live chat with someone now and it's painful .. he's told me there's no 6 month offer, that sky plus is only available to those with an active broadband connection and now that it might be available but only if i've left sky after completing a 12 month minimum period and about half a dozen other reasons.

would anyone be willing to provide me with the phone number that came with the email as i haven't actually had one? (i will ring the usual sky number as well just in case...)

cheers

I received this email too. Been using Now TV since I left Sky but this will save me a 6 month Now TV pass so a no brainier really.
Sky r trying to phase out sky had boxes and replace them with the sky q boxes which u r given on loan and must return at the end of your contract.

They r put simply money making blood sucking dirty scrounging tramps read to fleece u for every penny.
However if u r persistent enough u can get ur bill reduced just need the gift of the gab.

You're not texting us you know...
It's not a good deal. You're tied in for 12 months so it's costing you £60. You won't get hd channels either or sky 1 or Atlantic if it's anything like the basic pack I was put on before my contract expired last year.

You can get the complete package for £35 a month Inc movies and sports. Or there is another with box sets and fibre for less than £25 a month.

My contract is up soon and I have box sets. I will be aiming for a 50-75% reduction in my negotiations as I need neither sports or movies.

cheers for that - tells me i'm not able to take the offer online but have to live chat with someone to resolve it. grrrrrr. The T's & C's do also say it's only available to the named recipient of the email only, but worth a punt i suppose.

The part that says "There’s no contract, and the service will expire after six months without you being charged a thing" begs to differ ..

And what about those who don't want to rejoin but would use the sky+ features?
i've just had to take a screenshot of the offer and upload it to sky as proof and i've just realised it shows my bookmarks bar with a few 'nefarious' websites (not porn :D) clearly visible .. whoops !

i'm on hold and they're going to see what they can do - i think this is all because it's for named customers only, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed
still at this .. 3 hours later .. still got nowhere .. AARRRGGGHHHH .. now back with the "winback" team ..
ok, winback team insist it's not an online offer and try to sell me a sky package again so back on the phone to the office ..

There have been developments .. announcement imminent
Wouldn't stop me leaving.
Sorry for hogging the thread

anyway, just got off the phone and to resolve the issue, the very nice man from sky has just offered me the basic bundle at 60% off with no 12 month commitment and with enough credit on the account to cover the first six months, so it's completely free until september when I can either cancel without penalty or continue to pay £8.80 a month until next march.

Of course i said yes ..

Errr no!
I have no payment details on my Sky account and I have this offer setup for 6 months. At the end of which sky can suck my hairy sweaty balls.
Read the deal, the 'no contract' is a dead giveaway...
Still dumbfounded that a freebee has been voted cold!

All the KODI lovers and SKY haters..
We too got this offer. Took it up and have indeed got Sky back but won't allow us to pause, rewind live TV or record

When you say you hot Sky back, what channels? Doesn't this deal just switch on Sky+ with freeview channels? I see you haven't got that functionality - though the landing page says it can take 3 days to activate.

I was prompted to contact them by this thread and others - I was offered 75% off Boxed Set plus Cinema and £100 account credit so 7 months free and no minimum term, so I can cancel again when the credit runs out .

I got this email three days ago, responded on the website and nothing has happened. No activation and no email confirmation. I doubt I'd use it anyway as the sound from a sky box is so quiet compared to everything else.

Getting a 'page not working' message when I try to load the offer link in my email. I expect Sky have probably hit their take up on the offer so wouldn't put it past them to have 'broken the link'. Really not that bothered, got another 3 months entertainment pass to use.

not bad

i'd never use box sets anyway - i'm not one for re-watching old shows as i tend to have too many new shows to keep up on.

i'll still probably cancel mine in 6 months but i must confess, £8.80 a month going forward from then is quite tempting.

No HD aside from the free HD channels, but i suppose I don't live and die by HD really.

Boxed Sets is the new name for the top package (formerly Family Pack?) that includes all channels apart from cinema and sport. It also then gives you access to all their on demand materials, so worth having, particularly in my case when it is free . I just struck lucky on chat as so know it is not always that easy.
I rang to ask why the 6 month offer wasn't applied to my box and was given a one year basic subscription ((including all sky entertainment channels but not in hd) for free.
