£3.20 is a great price for 6 tomato plants and it's also delivered so no need to go hunting for them in shops. That's less than 54p per plug! Ideal for anyone who hasn't grown any from seed but still want to have home grown tomatoes this summer.

We are giving every reader the chance to claim 6 FREE* Tomato 'Sweet Aperitif' plants, worth £11.98 – for just the price of postage.

With its multi branching habit, this red skinned cherry tomato produces excellent yields of delicious, bite sized fruits. Tomato 'Sweet Aperitif' has a high sugar content and just the right amount of acidity which combine beautifully for a sweet, but refreshing flavour. This cordon variety can be grown in the greenhouse, or in a sheltered, sunny spot outdoors. Height: 200cm (79"). Spread: 50cm (20").

Love cherry toms! But don't know a lot about gardening, can I grow these on a windowsill or do they need to be outdoors? Don't have a greenhouse
You can grow on a windowsill but will do better outdoors without a greenhouse if you can a sunny spot. Will need a decent pot of soil and plenty of water

Hi yes you can so easy to maintain. Just buy a little tomato feed and plant in a decent compost mix. I grow mine in compost grow bags against the back of my garage. The yield is great. Just support the branches when the fruit is growing. Massive difference between home grown and mass produced. The taste is amazing. I only grow herbs, toms, strawberrys, peppers and chillies in baskets pots and grow bags. They need very little maintenance.
You can also grow these in a hanging basket as I do . Just let them get on with growing no need to stake or pinch out side shoots doing it this way .

Always find these plants are a month behind in size at least. The ones in our cloche are already a foot tall with the first truss of flowers starting to open. These may arrive in a couple of weeks and be about 2 inches tall.
Anyway when I checked the price it said £3.20 + p&p =£8.15.....confused.
Just checked and it's coming up as £8.15
yeah i just ordered and it come to 8.15, email on way to query

Thank you ordered & also got an email coupon for £5 off my next order!
Cheers OP ordered 2. Heads up for anyone who loves toms; Aldi were selling an Italian variety called "Creativeo", deliciously sweet. I saved some seeds so hope they'll germinate soon.
Just ordered thanks
Heat. Ordered, let's see what unlikely way I can inadvertently kill these off.
Cheers ordered, did my Tom patch last week but these are great for hanging baskets.
Thankyou!
Excellent find. Ordered, cheers. Going to put mine in the Aldi greenhouse I bought a couple of weeks ago as part of their special buys. Well worth the money if you can get hold of one or similar.

plugs, and no that's not a great price. For 9cm plants ok but they'd still be behind where they should be at this stage.
Thanks OP. Great find. just bought some.
I've grown some of these from seed. Have to say they look very weedy compared to the other varieties I'm growing.
I looked at these & made the decision that tomato plants should now be at least 6" high so these plugs are going to be at least a month behind, which is perhaps why they're getting rid cheap.
Also T&M do germinate more than ordered so they make sure full price orders are fulfilled, if they have stock left then it's sold off cheap.
Unless you have some favourable means of growing these on, or a very clement Summer then you might have to wait until quite late in the season for a harvest.

A wise ancient Chinese proverb said "The best time to start cherry tomatoes was a month ago. The second best time is now."

The chances are that Creativeo is a hybrid and you'll not get a true version of the variety when you grow from seeds taken from the fruit.

Most likely an F2
"F2 hybrids, the result of self or cross pollination of F1s, lack the consistency of F1s, though they may retain some desirable traits and can be produced more cheaply, because hand pollination or other interventions are not required. Some seed companies offer F2 seed at less cost, particularly in bedding plants where consistency is less critical."

Although in a hydroponic set up consistency might be better if pollination is by paintbrush.
Since no one else has said it yes you can grow tomatoes outside but if you want to grow them properly get a greenhouse.

Plants like this will most likely be F1 which are a cross between two parents to produce plants that have a consistant characteristic that growers want. E.g a bushy plant crossed with one that has tasty fruit = a bushy plant with a tasty crop. Seeds from this plant (F2 hybrids) could be bushy and tasteless, tall and tasty or bushy and tasty but there are no guarantees. .
