Free 75 GBP for Nationwide customers for switching direct-debits to Nationwide account

EDIT: See the direct link in my reply below -
(the link on the right takes you to the home page - even though its the same as the link in my reply not sure whats going on)

Hi all!

Nationwide currently have a offer (for both existing and new customers), where if you transfer your direct-debits/standing orders from another bank to them, they will credit your account with 75 pounds.

For existing customers, logon to internet banking and choose the switching service option.

For new customers, open a new account and choose the "switch all direct debits" option.

Remember, you need to switch ALL your direct debits, and not just a few from your old bank to get this offer.

Also, this expires on 5th March!

Easy way to get 75 pounds just for switching - works for existing and new!

Cheers
Greg.

There's a little more to it than that. From Nationwide's website:

Step 2:
Fill out this 'salary/pension payment form' and return to your employer or pension provider to let them know where you'd like your money to be paid.

so they want your salary, too

I believe this is an optional part ... they want your salary as well ideally since they want this to be your main account...but its not a condition for getting the 75 GBP ...

ive filled it in, im curently unemployed well, will be in 7 days. hope this goes through. i only have 2 direct debits, one of which is paypal. the other is my phone contract which runs end of the month lol

"To be eligible for the offer, if you are a qualifying customer, you must sign on to the Nationwide Internet Bank and complete and submit a ‘Transfer my account to Nationwide’ form within the Internet Bank to transfer all your Direct Debits, standing orders and bill payments from an account with another bank or building society to a qualifying FlexAccount. To do this select your account, click on ‘Transfer my account to Nationwide’ and choose ‘Transfer all my payments for me’. If you choose ‘Send me a list and let me choose’ you will not qualify for this offer."

This is being discussed alot on MSE

Basically only need one standing order (which you can set up yourself) switched, no salary.

Offer comes up about once every 6 months - some people have done it numerous times

so setting up a SO to another acc of mine would work?

can i somehow create a DD somewhere to make it at least look slightly real?

any ideas

I did this switch - 6 months ago and I appear not to have it in my account. Anyone similar can get help from local Trading Standards - this is a contract and must be honoured as such.

To save everyone your phone bills, Consumer Direct advises you write a letter to their Head Office, giving 10 days to settle the contract. (This debit swapping had to be set up initially in my case via the Nationwide internet messaging system and not directly with the non-Nationwide bank), Read the current conditions carefully and keep copies if via an internet banking offer.
The next step is the Financial Services Ombudsman. That £50 offer would have been handy with my overdraft!

I only had utilities transferred and no salary - they do send me a Salary Mandate to arrange pay-ins every time they write. Clearly this is why they are doing this promo - to get more money coming in. Bankers!

mine was ok.
