Free Access to Virgin Money Lounge (free tea, coffee, etc) for Northern Rock customers

Virgin Money has bought Northern Rock and if you have an account with them you can use there new Lounges which are basically free cafes with entertainment (the norwich one has a grand piano), wifi access for free. The Currently only have a Lounge in Norwich, Edinburgh and Manchester.

I have opened an saving account just so I can use the service as it is only £1 to have an account, so cheap way to get tea and coffee.

But do you have to be in the good or the bad bit of Northern Rock! They split NR and Virgin only bought the good bit. I have a darned awful Buy To Let Mortgage with Northern Rock so a few free T&Cs (or even better G&Ts!) would go someone to easing the pain!

Don't know the answer but you could contact them and find out, worth it if you can use it as they are super nice cafes, also have LCD TV's there too.

LOL! it is free access forever (well whilst they are open) to the cafe, it took 5 minutes to open the account online and they are very nice, plus you are allowed guest access too.

I've only seen the Norwich one, but it looks like a gay brothel designed by an art college reject...

I am self employed so if I still lived in Edinburgh it would be handy for somewhere to work when in town. However it might just be rammed with people getting a free vending machine cuppa so I will hold judgement till I have seen it!

Just signed up - its sound a great idea if you live in Edinburgh

I have to admit I have never been to a Gay Brothel so I wouldn't know, but it look nice, sure it is does not look like Starbucks but I don't think that is naturally a bad thing

In Norwich the groundfloor is a cafe and I believe (though haven't been there) the 1st floor is for banking, it doesn't look like a normal bank.

They have one in Gatwick too.

Is the gatwick lounge easily accessible? I have a virgin one account, will I be able to use the lounge?

Well its in the Airport depature area so i would have thought so. The lounges are usually just to the side of the seating area and shops so can nip in and out as you please.

I don't think that you can get it if you have a one account. I only know about them as i got mine free from booking a Platinum hotel for my trip to Vegas later in the year.

T&C's here:

The new(ish) Northern Rock/Virgin savings account and cash ISA are pretty competitive too - plus they don't have large bonuses that will drop off after a year. It'll be harder for them to simply drop the rate so hopefully the accounts will stay competitive over the longer term for those wh can't be bothered to keep on switching.

I have used the Edinburgh one a couple of times now. No banking on site but a comfortable lounge, free wifi, Macs, iPads, papers, free hot drinks, biscuits, fruit, soft drinks. There a few rules like not taking your own food in, but you can meet people there, and seems like a lot of Uny lecturers meet students there. V welcoming staff, nice atmosphere. Now in Norwich, Manchester, Edinburgh, due to open in London and Newcastle next year sometime - look at website for Virgin Money (not the other Virgin brands - I think the Gatwick one is something different altogether. )
