Adblock Plus is a community-driven open source project that aims to make the internet better for everyone. It was originally created for the Firefox browser and with more than 100 million downloads it has become the most popular browser extension in the world. They are now offering Adblock Plus for Google Chrome (formerly AdThwart) as well and the community is working hard to produce the same value you know from the Firefox version.

its not a deal its a freebie

Most website you enjoy can only exist through the revenue it gets from ads - think about that for a sec before installing these kinds of plugins.

As a webmaster, I agree.

However as a user, when websites use more than 2 banner ads and pop-ups/unders, it infuriates me. Some of the sites I use for streaming media have 8-9 flash banners which randomly change whilst watching a video and some randomly make noise :@. I am all for supporting sites but some take it over the top and ruin it for everyone.

Why not post every extension for chrome?

I've thought about it.
I don't click on adds anyway, so I installed the plug in.

Some adverts are CPA, Some CPC and some CPM.

CPA - Cost Per Action. Only get paid on results, ie for each purchase made.
CPC - Cost Per Click. Only get paid on each click made.
CPM - Cost Per 1,000 Impressions. Get paid for every 1,000 times an advert is shown to a user.

Random info: CPA is generally £0.30 - £75 depending on how hard it is to sell an item and what a company is offering for results.
CPC - Ranges £0.01 to £0.10 generally, have seen up to £20 on google adwords (mistake?)
CPM - Generally £0.15 per 1000 impressions (adult adverts pay a lot more)
CPM Popups/unders - £0.60 per 1000 (but annoy users and may lose you traffic)

Those figures are from 4-5 years ago when I was doing a lot of webmaster work but doubt they have changed too much.
