Always been free for as long as I remember in Saintsbury's.

This is a joke right

Tescos charge for air, cheeky blighters!

It's cool you've taken the time to highlight a petrol station you can still get free compressed air and water.

Thanks... Was not aware anywhere was still free

A week too late for me had 2 lots of air last week at Morrisons 20p each time.

Tesco Bidston has charged 20p for many years. Worse still, my local fuel station (not Tesco) in Wallasey charges 50p!!

That's what I thought! Set off for a long trip, heavily loaded, I needed to adjust tyre pressure - but never again at that service station!

When I first saw this thread I thought the freebies section had sunk to a new low and that a whole slew of threads might appear on all the locations you might be able to breathe and drink water for free. then I realised it was for a car I know the freebies seem rather sparse at the moment but still....

I simply do not believe this is a genuine post - and voted Hot by many HUKD sheep - Words totally fail me

Not sure why people expect a shop to provide free air and water from an industrial machine that probably costs a fortune & will require maintenance...

Because people then choose to shop in Sainsburys or other supermarkets that don't charge! No wonder Tescos have been struggling lately, next they'll be charging for the air handling heating that warm their stores, I mean doesn't that cost them a fortune too?

I've used it for my MTB before. As long as your tyre has the car type air valve, then is ok.
Incidently,I was in Kingston today. They've installed a FREE air pump for bikes near the bridge.
Wonder if anyones tried to see if it works for cars?

Why is the picture lob-sided? oO

I never ever realised that there were stations that charged for air and water for the car. Wut?

After filling your car, ask the cashier in the kiosk when you pay, for a code for the air pump, they are free.

What, you're kidding right? You have to pay for water and air at a petrol station? Lol

mine in Penzance has always been free

You can get free air and water in Weston-Super-Mare.

I know, right? The fact that it never goes cheaper than free makes me incessant with rage. They should pay ME for the privilege of filling my tyres at their station! Freezing cold.

Yep, just stand on the sea front. You'll get a good dose of free fresh air and free fresh water before too long

Keep an eye open on here for a Top Tech / Ring / RAC air compressor. Make sure its a digital one. When they are on on offer you can get them for around £15 - then after a few years you should be quids in... assuming you check your types regularly! They're not as quick as the forecourt ones but sufficient for the job.

I got a 3-in-1 compressor from Robert Dyas couple of years ago, think was £30.
Is a jump start,light,compressor,12v cigarette lighter socket.
Use it to pump mtb tyres and car tyres.Car tyres pumping is a fair bit slower than at petrol station but is free.:)
If you want to be extra savvy, attach a solar panel to trickle charge the 3-in-1 compressor. Can then use the 12v dc cigarette socket to charge mobile phone,mp3,power banks, rechargeable batteries etc.(use a cigarette to usb converter) for free electricity.:)

Thanks, didn't know it was free at Sainsburys

Yes people, makes much more sense to buy a compressor just to pump up tyres. This is hot, just for convenience. Air might be free, but compressing it isn't.
