You are very welcome. My sentiments exactly. However HUKD has a lot of deluded members or trolls that wish to cause harm only.

Cheers for that. Although your point being?
Celebrate the Armed Forces Day by turning up and watching the Armed Forces work???

Bit like having a Bank Holiday and the banks being made to stay open

So you obviously haven't gone to the website to see the number of different events? Picnics, live performances, memorial tributes, meet & greet the armed forces, celebrity shows with the armed forces & games and competitive prize winning sporting events.
Thanks for posting, all near me look a brilliant day out

Here is a golden opportunity to say thank you to those service people that perform their duty diligently for our country.

Some of those armed forces helped my friends & family in Yorkshire when their homes were flooded in 4 feet of water. No one else reached them or helped them as much as the armed forces. My thanks to the armed forces. Here I can tangibly shake their hands & show my gratitude & thanks.
Those people who voted cold should be ashamed!! They live in this country not knowing how much selfless duty these men & women perform for our country.

Just out of interest, isn't this their job? They applied for and took the job of their own free will and get paid for it. To me, that's not exactly selfless, that's called employment. If they were getting called up without against their will then that's something altogether different.

I know - let's pass a law whereby nobody is allowed to say thank you to people who do their jobs!

Not when they go beyond the call of duty. In essence these people don't just perform normal duties. They keep our country safe. When you see or experience it first hand only then you'll be able to appreciate it!!!!
There are jobs where people get paid and there are jobs where people get paid but are willing to pay with their own lives to protect you. I am proud to have served and proud of those that serve.

Don't forget some also lose their lives defending this/your/our country!!! That's not a normal job when you sacrifice your own life to save others!
Thanks to the good HUKD members that voted hot. Appreciate it.

The 2nd quote with the wiki link was meant for cave_man.
Did I say it was a normal job? Nope. I said that what they're doing isn't selfless. The risks are part and parcel of the job. I have no intention of getting drawn into an argument over foreign policy, and who should be doing what and where.

That's the point! They volunteer to perform these duties out of a sense of pride and duty to their country. It certainly isn't for monetary gain! Honestly you ungrateful sod.
