FREE, what's the catch
I wonder if they start sending marketing as there is no opt in and your mate certainly isn’t giving them consent for any contact including the beer....

And you know this how?

This is a reputable British company subject to GDPR. I think your opinion is wrong.

Not remotely likely. This is a reputable British company subject to GDPR.
Thanks OP! That's Xmas and birthday pressie for the Father in law sorted!
Thanks for that. Used a friend's address but one of my spare email addies to keep it limited. Hope their beer is better than their trains.

You seems to have misunderstood what GDPR is. Have a read of the terms and conditions for this promotion, it’s pretty clear.
Done. Cheers OP.
Does the offer work if you use the same address for both you and friend?

I have and this seems very clear,

"Data Protection and Privacy

If you are the winner, you agree that the Promoter may use your name, image and town or county of residence to announce the winner and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes, including any publicity reasonably required by the Promoter.

By entering the promotion, you also agree that any personal information provided by you in relation to your entry may be held and used only by the Promoter or its agents and suppliers to administer the competition."

Nothing about selling your details, spamming you, or anything else other than using them for the competition and publicising you as a winner.

Now, do you have anything other than unfounded assumptions to throw around?

Any evidence that they wouldn't be? We're talking about Marston's plc, here.

Personally, I don't find it sensible to agree with baseless accusations made by anonymous people about reputable companies.

I didn’t state they were not - but if they aren’t allowing an opt-in then they not not be compliant?

If they're not going to send you any marketing blurb, why do they need to ask you to opt in to anything?
