It's people like this that hold humanity back. Good riddance!
Thanks for this, looks interesting and a freebie so voted hot. Most of these comments are betraying an ignorance which I share (but not to such an extent). For example, I know Graham was a progressive at one time especially in terms of race relations – his sermons helping to make complacent whites see the wrongs of segregation. He could be somewhat reactionary too, possibly anti-Semitic, possibly sexist. But anyway, this will be an interesting document of his life.As far as I’m aware his ministry wasn’t aimed at making personal wealth, at least not in a monetary sense.I should also mention that I’m an atheist. The JWs fear knocking on my door knowing that they’ll be asked some very tricky questions. But I do in a way respect them though. At least they have conviction, albeit somewhat misguided in my view.Don’t dismiss this post simply because you happen not to be a Christian. Atheism is premised on reason. Book-burning (see above comment) is not.
Lovely man who had a real heart for the people of the whole world.
I'm always looking for more stuff to use to light the woodburner on the cold mornings. Thanks

And had a lovely $25 Million for the whole of himself.
Threads like this prove that mindless people, who have no power to think things through for themselves, but follow the rest of the sheep and regurigate absolute rubbish. It suggest that such closed minds are the breeding grounds for intolerance. I'm not referring to religious people on here btw.
Thank you. The world has lost one of the best.

Voodoo no worky.

You obviously know as little about voodoo as you do about Christianity.
Thanks OP , wish there were more like him.
God is going to have to listen to him banging on about Christianity

How would that be? Do please enlighten me with your own superior knowledge.

Hi Gordonc1960.
My first time in Africa I joked about voodoo too. I quickly learned just how scarily real it is. People only participate in it because it works. Likewise, people only participate in Christianity because it works. Rather than being scary, people experience it as peaceful, enlightening, and life changing in a positive way. Do you remember when you were a child and you looked through coloured chocolate wrappers? Everything looked different when you switched from blue to pink and then yellow. We all look at life differently based on our experiences, opportunities, and what we chose to allow to influence us. I believe there are influences from Satan and influences from God. They work through voodoo, shamanism, christianity and many other mediums. We all have the freedom to chose, or rather we all must chose. They are all real: sometimes frighteningly so. But we are allowed to chose. Unless you have experienced something it's easy to dismiss it. At the moment it's fashionable to be tolerant of everyone, perhaps with the exception of Christianity. (Just read some of the comments in this thread to see that.) But we are where we are because we know it works, just as much as the voodoos know their's works. We don't know gravity works until we try it. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's still there. We just don't know about it... or chose not to believe it... but it's still there.
I think the chilliness of this item is more eloquent than any of the posts. Lets get it to a record low.

A lot of bunkum here, but also some compelling points too - such as how Christianity is looked down upon while other creeds are ring-fenced from criticism. My view - as an atheist - is that faiths are an expression of the search for meaning and to an extent they can be compared to the arts. You wouldn't want to stop an artist from painting, would you, because you disagree with his position on a matter? And the same with Graham and his ilk - charismatic preachers. Then again, we should all be free to offer an opinion. Burning books (as is alluded to above) is philistine, crass and totalitarian.

You are free to believe whatever you wish, as am I. However please don't patronise me or worse, attempt to indoctrinate me with your own beliefs.

I truly believe that the world would be better without religion
I hope there is a hell so him and his ilk have somewhere to rot.
The small mindeness of people on HUKD never fails to surprise me (yes, I am easily surprised).

A belief by any other name is still a belief and if you haven't tried something don't just knock it out of ignorance.

Believing in god(s) is no different from believing in atheism - to the best of my knowledge, no one has even proven the truth of either belief or any of the beliefs between those two poles.

If you have a personal experience, not just an opinion of BG, then express it. If you only have conjecture you have no opinion to express so please don't waste our time.

Hitler was a teetotal vegetarian who loved dogs. Do you really think it would be fair to equate all teetotal vegetarians who own dogs with Hitler?

...and NO, I am not implying a parallel with BG as I have NO experience of BG or his ministry and so can offer NO opinion.

My point is lots of free 'junk' and propaganda comes our way. Clogging HUKD with this kind of worthless crap devalues the site which is quite possibly why people don't post Watchtower, Everest Windows ads, or Joe Bloggs Solar panel service which by your logic some people would find interesting and it's free but nevertheless utter junk to the majority. Billy Graham was a bigot who made a lot of money preaching to gullible people and sucking up to heads of state.
Belief is defined as an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.

Atheists deny there is such a thing as a god - 100% agree - last time I checked, that belief cannot be proven, any more than those who believe in god can prove their belief.

Your referencing largely adverts whereas this is a tribute to a public figure for which some people may have interest ( Not me I hasten to add ) , so at least if you're going to reference my logic at least do it accurately by referring to similar content. We all enjoy some of the humorous comments on this site but I find the real problem with hotukdeals is that it gets clogged up by people whom vote on deals based on their own prejudices and opinions on a variety of political , religious , who they do or don't support in football etc. Billy Graham was a big enough figure for his death to feature on the TV news headlines and he was obviously important and revered by many people. Therefore this maybe a good deal for them if any of them use this site like the original poster. I appreciate how you may not be able to see that, but it doesn't make you right its just your opinion, and in my opinion, my opinion of Billy Graham is irrelevant to the value of this deal.
audio of the funeral will also be carried live by premier Christian radio - online, ondigital and on medium wave in some uk areas.
a disturbing development from the hotdeals team :

Hi seb

Political and religious debate is no longer permitted.

Over the past ~13 years we've allowed members to openly discuss their position and feelings on a huge range of subjects. While we encourage all users to be respectful toward one another at all times, we're sure you can appreciate that the aforementioned topics tend to create huge discord among our community and account for a disproportionately high amount of complaints and reports.

Therefore, we've taken the decision as of March 1st to no longer allow debate on these topics. As many of you have mentioned in the past, these threads typically tend to head one way and the users within them can often be accused of flame baiting.

We hope you can understand why we've taken this decision and appreciate your support
-------------------

seb doesn't support this!!

especially as he was hoping for support from hotdealers for his new vocation as a pagan chaplain to prisoners!!
