UPDATE: It seems people are either getting the deal above or a similar deal [£20 for first 18 months £25 for remaining 6 months]. Therefore, please do not expire.
UPDATE 2: It seems now Orange are offering this exact same deal for £25 a month. Let us know what deal you get given.
UPDATE 3: This deal IS available for £25 a month, which is still the best deal around for this phone.
UPDATE 4:JUST A QUICK WARNING
Someone here has got their phone, and called Orange to confirm the tarrif and price and was told that it is £25 / month not the £20 / month as agreed during the call to Orange.
Before opening your phone call Orange and check - once you have broken the seal and connected it will be a game to cancel.
PLEASE BE WARY OF THIS.
UPDATE 5: Now same deal is available [for some people] with 900mins @ £25/month.

You have to ring Orange directly to get this. Number to call: 0800 079 2000

This is a great deal on what is currently the best Blackberry in the market.

You can get the same deal online with 200 less mins, and pay £99 for the phone, so that makes this deal excellent.

Phone sells for £390 [@Play] sim-free, total contract cost for this deal is £480, which is only £90 more, making this deal well worth it.

UPDATE 6:
I phoned up Orange (as existing customer) telling them the vodafone deal (also on here) and got haggling and they gave me this...
18 Months, Free Blackberry Bold 9700, 1200 mins, 1500 text, Unlimited data/email for £17.50 per month!!!
Though after 18 months, it will revert to 900 mins, 1000 text, unlimited data. - But by then you can get a new phone

how does this compare to the IPhone?

this seems too good to be true, are you sure it was not just a one off to keep you as a customer etc, do I need to give a ref number?

24 months..... 24 months ...im tired of them....why can't u guys find 12 months deals?

This is legit. My friend got this a few weeks back and told me about it.

You cant really compare them. Browser wise the iPhone is way better and for applications.

Depends what you're looking for. Blackberrys and E-series Nokias blow iPhone out of the water in many respects.

It's not a matter of 'us guys' finding it, its a matter of it not being in existence at a competitive price. Here are some 12 month deals for your ]reference, they are the same amount of money in half the time, and give you less minutes.

The iphone is a big bag of trash, had one of the first releases years ago and they haven't improved that much even with the 3gs. I have a blackberry curve and its a brilliant device and the battery lasts 5 times longer than the iphone.

In what areas does either/both blow the iPhone outof the water? Have you had/tried all 3? I have and have settled on the iPhone. It's all depends what you want from the device. £20pm is a good deal but 24 months is a long time in this industry. The iPhone 4 is rumoured to be out by the EOY, the HTC 2 is an impressive device with a huge screen (better and quicker than the one that won last weeks Gadget Show test). Who know's what round the corner? If you want a small screen with a proper keyboard then the Bold would be on my list at this price but ... :whistling:

The iphone is just a play toy compaired to the blackberry, the only way i would have an iphone is if i wanted an ipod as well, And no i havent had all 3 but i have had the first edition and a 3gs and me personally not impressed with either. More so that you only get a day out of the battery on an iphone and i get nearly a week out the blackberry, its a better built unit but at the end of the day its down to preference i suppose. Play things over phone quality.

I thought the iPhone was a seriously flawed as a mobile when I first got it (still do in 1 or 2 areas). In some ways it is misnamed as it should be an iDevice IMO. It's strength is in its ability to do lots of things well or very well and excel in some.
There are better phones out there, there are better text devices out there, there are better email devices out there, hell there are even better music devices out there but in one package?

This phone is a much better mp3 player than the iphone, you can even sync it with itunes!!!

The sound quality is much much better.

Good deal as well, almost as good as mine and I have been with Orange for 10 years, I get 800 mins unlimited text/internet, free phone for £19 a month.

friend just called up - they'll offer it for £25 no less - he took it tho.. o2 wanted £50 for the phone and £40 a mth for the exact same deal.

Does anyone know how Orange are on delayed porting ? IIRC, a couple of years back porting could be done any time after the contract was taken out, but I just wanted to double check the current posiiton.

Also is there any impression whether this is just a quick one-off or whether this deal might still be around for a bit. My current contract is not up for antoehr 2 months+

just phoned up...

at first the guy said no way, then went & spoke to his manager & said it's a mistake in the system which means its not charging the 100+ for the phone that it should, the problem is meant to be getting fixed tomorrow.

However i did get it for 20 a month for the first 18 months then 25 for the last few months.

So i wouldn't wait too long in case this is true & it does get fixed!

Does this for sure have full web included, or just e-mail ?? The online plans, even charging £100 for the phone, seem to be including ONLY email.

£50 cashback through Quidco too for new customers???!!!!

Yes, but no web included for online contracts.

i would say try vodafone give them a call, i got this phone on a 18th month contract for first 15 months at £20 remainder 3 at £40 and get following. Mind you all depends who you get.

900 minutes
unlimited texts
unlimited internet , kind of (well no good for downloads)
UNLIMITED landlines
BIS Blackberry internet services

Phone free, my daughters never gone over minutes, plus they made a mistake and give me vodafone family for free.

I have found them excellent, great phone too if you like blackberrys

I got the same deal 2 weeks ago, it's legit.

hot deal - heat

Think this is at least £35 on O2 and orange have a better 3G service.

My mate got this phone on O2 to replace his iPhone and I personally didn't like it. I'm going to be keeping my iPhone and moving to O2 Simplicity I think when my current deal expires.

I have to admit its a good deal even though orange has been a nightmare for me in the past....

2 years contract
£20 a month
sell the phone for £320 (if you prefer to use your own)
Leaves you paying £160 for 2 years.
When 2 years are up haggle price down a tad and your getting even better deal.

anyone know what time oranges phone lines are open till to try and order this deal?

Doubt you get £320 for phone, it will be blocked to orange, my friend bought someones phone big mistake, the network provider found out that the phone was being using by a different sim card and phone was blocked, dont know if he as unlucly or what.

seems to be an unbelievably good deal

I was tempted, but I can't leave o2 as I'll lose out on my cheaper o2 broadband package price : (

Other than that, I think I would of gone for this deal, shame.

because to offer an expensive phone for free they have to recoup their costs by tieing you into a 24 month contract. If you want a standard phone just to call and text their are 12 month deals to be had, but for these latest phones you have either the option of 18 or 24 months. The consumer still has a choice.

Just called but Sales denied they had this as an offer. How did you get to be offered this deal?

Yet again this post appears, I call up, and I get told it doesn't exist either. There are 2 reasons:

1) When you start getting charged, the deal isn't quite what you were told

or

2) It is real pot luck on the sales level of who you speak to at the time of calling.

Either way, it is not a deal that everyone can get.:x

You could always get an O2 PAYG SIM. You only have to top up £10 each 3 months. Same broadband discount as with a contract SIM.

lol 24 months...... crumbs......

all down to the cancellations/retentions department..........

I would make sure that this comes with 'unlimited internet'. As 'unlimited internet' and 'unlimited blackberry email data' are 2 completely different things.

If it does genuinely include unlimited internet, this is a fantastic deal. Although Orange 'unlimited internet' is usually 500Mb. Shouldn't be a problem as Blackberry compresses data before it hits the device.

We (the kids and myself) have a Blackberry Bold 9700 and they are absolutely superb. My kids went from a Sidekick Slide to this ONLY because T-Mobile discontinued the Sidekick plan at the end of 2009. They are both savvie teens (15 and 17) and wanted THE best phone. They both wanted this phone....and they love their iPods.

I managed to get it on release day and am paying £33 each a month for 900 minutes, unlimited Blackberry Email, unlimited W&W internet and unlimited texts. Although I did manage to get Family added for free which means my wife can call us/text us for free as she is on PAYG. Which saved a bit as well.

Anyway, great phone and would highly recommend it. Great battery life as well. Even more so if you just use 2G (and not 2G/3G) and switch WiFi off.

And the iPhone vs BlackBerry argument......"get a toy phone or get a BlackBerry"

I couldn't agree more. I ended up giving my iphone to my wife who like games.

Reporter on Sky News just now......

"Within minutes of Tigers conference, we all started receiving emails on our Blackberry devices......."

Haha!

Thanks for the info.

I'm not actually connected yet (should go live on Monday 22/02) So I could always make use of the 30 day cancellation / policy.
