Ummm, not convinced. Website looks dodgy and offer seems too good to be true.

Clicking on link shows regular prices.

It's not free at all. You need to watch adverts and get paid in MB's of data.

About to say the same. Although you could leave your device running the ad and walk off?

Well I use it. Run adverts in silence in background whilst doing other things and get free data. Good when bloody wifi plays up

It's a good idea for students or those that need to save on data costs

You get 3.5MB of data for each ad you view. Not hard going if you ask me.

I'd have thought that currently the Ovovo Mobile offer of 500MB a month once have a £10 top-up - as revealed to me in a previous HUKD on here (got the phone version with 100+100+400 and so far so good)

Expected to have some advert basis in the future, but none currently allegedly.
I know on phone package I have just been getting one promotional email a week since signing up.

Not sure what happened to the OP's link but

This is using a referral code but gives the discounted prices?

From their blurb :-
Samba, the smart way to get free mobile broadband on your laptop or tablet. We give you free internet and in return you select and watch high quality adverts. You choose what to watch and when to watch it.

Join now by buying a SIM for £2.50, or a dongle & SIM for £22.50. That's £2.50 off the normal price!

This has probably been asked before but do you buy the Ovivo deal and then every month it gets reset to £10 without any further payment?

been using it for a while now on my ipad and bought the dongle one for son's laptop. Each advert watched get you 4.5-5mb credit. Takes a while to build up credit - but it doesn't disappear at the end of the month if you don't use it.

Here's SFconvert's recent thread that alerted me to their existence:

You can find out from Ovivo Mobile's own site how it works, ie paying £10 as initial PAYG top-up you get a SIM with £10 credit on it. Once activated that phone number gets a free monthly allowance that is reset/restarted each month. Any activity beyond that free allowance is taken from your PAYG credit. How long the sheme lasts and at what free allowance rates remains to be seen (it's varied over time), but you're only risking £10...

This is great for just £2.50 and I use it as a backup to my Ovivo deal above in case I want to do some streaming or high downloads or tethering. If you log in and watch ads from your PC you don't eat up any of the allowance and earn 3.5mb per ad. It's useful just to build up a balance and the data credit doesn't seem to expire so can use it as and when you need - currently I have over a gb. They use 3 so where available you get quite good speeds. Not sure why this is cold, got to be worth a punt for £2.50. Not sure why it's cold!

I'm interested in trying this Samba out but I dont want to link pricing to my credit card or debit card . I think there is a prepayment card for this type of thing .....................you put an amount of money on a card to a set limit . Can anyone give some info on this type of card and maybe the best one to use .thanks

I don't think you need to worry but I believe you can pay with paypal - I did when they had an offer for just £1 for the sim a while ago.

Had this since Nov last year and can confirmed it is definitely worth £2.50 (I bought it for £1 during that time). So far I have accummulated nearly 6GB of data by watching ads using home wifi. Then I use this as a backup mobile broadband sim card for my iPad.

Does "watching adverts" require you to interact with the pc at all, or can you just leave it running to accumulate download allowance?

Obviously it can't tell whether you are paying attention, but you do need to actively click on each one and some have a button you need to click when it's finished to "claim" your credit.

Just leave it running and you can make a coffee while you are away

Anyone know if it works with tethering? I know it's not designed to make calls, but as I have a Galaxy S lying around, could set that up as a access point, would only be looking for this as a backup to my existing broadband.

"I have just noticed the counter on the top of Sambas homepage. ad views vs mb.

At the time of looking it said 3432822 ad views,9345085mb earned.

At 3.5mb per ad this equals 2669792mb missing. 22% of ads watched are not crediting according to the information shown.

This is a bad fail percentage. People are watching ads and there are many fails which samba are getting paid for but its customers
are not."

This is a quote from sambas own support forum.

Only if they can build up the credit on wifi first .
It doesn't quite work if it is the only way you have to access the internet.
The ads themselves use up the data you are earning.

The EX1 code just worked for me, to get a Samba Mobile sim for £1
