FREE BT Sports & HD upgrade for retentions & new customers

So I got the email about the price increase and called to cancel. First time around the girl said she couldn't give me a better deal, which to be honest I understood as I'm getting a smashing pack from them. But being the greedy one I called back and got speaking to someone else who, after a few mins on hold, came back and said the best he could do was to give me free BT Sports. Not enough, I also wanted the HD upgrade. "Yeah that's included now anyway" he said. That was on Friday past and I signed back up.

I called today to enquire about a TV package and the lady was pitching away about giving me free BT Sports and HD so I stopped her mid-flight..."woooooo there girl", says I. "I was told I already have free BT Sports" so she checks and she said "Yes, sorry that's correct and I see the free HD offer has just went live and you have that too."

So that's the story folks. If this has already been posted then I apologise for wasting time. If not, go bag yourselves a bargain and a free one at that!

Nice work on the deal! Don’t suppose this would work if you only have phone line with them?

Nice, I can watch the Ashes.

Sod this you should all be cancelling your contracts because of the BT price rise then getting a nice new juicy deal with another provider with all that lovely cashback and gift cards yumyum

Well I didn’t have TV with them at all they offered me the Sports to stay. No harm trying but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Use your BT reward MasterCard for the upfront payment for a new sky sub lol. You can set up the MasterCard as you payment method for sky bills so it might cover your first couple of bills. Don’t forget quidco and if topcadhback pays more just submit a higher cashback claim with quidco and they will pay out. When sky puts its bills up (and they will) repeat the process in reverse if you know what I mean..

That would be lovely, I feel all warm inside just thinking about using the Mastercard for that haha.

I think I paid upfront for the line rental with BT, I need to find the thread about it on here but I think I read that you lose that payment if you switch.

Make sure you check. I am sure I read that they have to repay you what is unused from your line rental upfront payment.

Ours is set up in the wife’s name. I’m thinking of cancelling and joining up as a new customer in my name. Only downside is you lose landline number but it’s never used anyway so doesn’t really matter!

and you're not a bt broadband customer?

Did similar this week as price increase gives option to leave early and leverage to re contract at best price.

Current have infinity 1 unlimited, weekend and evening calls, BT TV with BT sports and HD paying £30 plus line rental that is paid in advance to reduce cost.

Anyway opening gambit was when is contract up? I believe I can leave without penalty due to pending cost increase?

Unless of course you can offer a good deal and I would re contract ?

Best price I could get was £28.49 / month with line rental paid in advance anyone got abetter offer ??

Said I would go away and think about it as Virgin keep calling and writing to me.

They can’t keep money for services you haven’t received, you will get ar partial refund for what you haven’t used, I’m in the same boat.

I meant join with BT again. There £30 per month deal for unlimited infinity, line rental, free HD sport and £100 mastercard seems pretty good.

Ive not had a email regarding price increase should i call them?

Then cancel and set it up in your partners name. You will be without fibre for the lead time of setting up the new service. You could however use sky for 14 days for free “cooling off period” then return to BT in partners name.

Done it before with sky and was without broadband for 1 day so not too bad.

I got offered a whopping 50p off my package when I called them. Saw better deals out there but minus the BT Sport so a bit in limbo just now.

Does BT Mobile have any kind of signal booster box (femtocell)? Signal is horrendous indoors in my area and this is the only thing keeping me with 3..

I'm having issues getting a better deal.... I signed up Black Friday last year and it's up for renewal. I am getting:

BT Infinity 1 + weekend calls
Line rental

For £30.49 per month. Wouldn't mind the BT Sport as well but that would be extra, apparently. I get a slight discount if I pay in advance (12 months) for the line rental, but they won't offer anything more. I threatened to leave and the guy said I should contact the new provider then.

What's everyone else paying on a renewal?

Nice one. Am i right inthinking you need to be able to get Infinity in order to accesss the HD channels?

Call back and speak with someone else and tell them you’ve heard they are offering free Sport HD as a retention’s offer. If you read my opening post you’ll see I had to call back myself to get it. First girl wasn’t for budging AT ALL. Second guy was more amicable and went off to see what he could do. Came back and said he could do nothing on what I had as I was getting a very good deal (very true) but he could offer me free sport HD for length of contract.

OK cheers.

Could you tell me the number you called to discuss your bill? It invited me on the 'prices are changing' letter 'please give us a call' but there's no phone number. I have been trying to find one on their website but it just seems to want you to complain online. Thank you

I've been with BT for 4 months and I've received a letter saying prices are increasing. Also that I could leave my 12 months contract no penalties. My question is

1) I had £80 quidco witch I have received any impact on this.
2) £100 pre paid card which I have also received and I think it has £30 left.

I was considering going back to Sky at a cheaper line rental as long as I don't pay any cancellations and get penalised for the rewards.

Thoughts please.
