A lot of you guys may already have this, but I have just found it and it free so I am sharing it with the group.

Just when you manage to have a moment to yourself, the phone rings. More often these days, it's an unsolicited sales call.

BT Privacy at Home helps you spend more, uninterrupted time on the things that matter to you by giving you more control over who you speak to. What's more, this service is FREE.

* See who's calling before you pick up the phone with FREE Caller Display.

* Help block unwanted sales calls with the Telephone Preference Service

BT Privacy helps stops unwanted sales calls by registerring you with the Telephone Preference Service and giving you BT Caller Display at no extra charge.

From 1st October 2006 customers who do not make some chargeable calls with BT will be charged for BT Caller Display.

Had this for free since the BT Privacy marketing push a year or so back, a must have if you have a cordless with a display.

Good for prepping yourself for the call centre bunch!

yep i was offered this free a year ago when I connected my fone line. Would be lost without it, can ignore the in laws :P

BT needed something to stop the nuisance calls and this has helped alot, good PR campaign for BT really.

Got this in 2005 but still hot.

Has been free for ages, not sure this is a hot deal.

We did this, but if you're not with BT for calls, you get charged if you don't make at least 2 calls per month (I think) via BT (using 1280 prefix)

Yep, agree this is definitely worth having, up'd the temp! I had this set up at my previous address and had no nuiscance calls. When we moved (and had to get a new number) this service wasn't put in place automatically by BT and we were getting calls at all hours. Reregisterd BT Privacy and TPS (this is the important bit to stop sales calls) and no more waking up at stupid am to answer the phone to a computer dialler - fantastic.

you can register with some companies who take your number off the system and it is then illegal for cold calls to ring you, and it is free + most new phones come with caller display

Thanks. I've just bought a new dect phone and didn't know you had to register with BT in order to get caller display, so very useful!

I believe that if you use another provider to make your calls such as Talk Talk, then you're not eligible for BT Privacy...

but thanks for sharing anyway! It maybe old but you'd be surprised how many don't know about this!

we got this already not to sure if we pay for it tho, i would have to check, i think this is great we ignore calls when it looks like it comes from a call centre

Had it for ages, since they first had it free.

Just go online and change your plan options, you get a few others free.
