Google must think we were born yesterday. Nest mini is £20 EVERYWHERE …Google must think we were born yesterday. Nest mini is £20 EVERYWHERE except their store. And Chromecast can be found for 20 in most places.

But this is the 2nd gen version?
Aren't they frequently £20 each anyway?

Show me somewhere where a nest mini is £20. I agree this isn't a great deal but I've only seen the original home mini for £18-£20.

Nest, it wont connect to either of my three Routers, just keeps saying …Nest, it wont connect to either of my three Routers, just keeps saying internet. So I googled the issue and apparently lots of people have the same issue.. no fix for it. Also it wont connect to my Bluetooth Amp, the only device that wont.... again I Googled it and lots of people have the same issue. Pile of crap, the Echo gave me no issues.

The Nest mini or the chromecast? What doesn't connect? I've got both and don't have any issues

Voting hot on the deal as good if looking for both. I've personally no use for a chromecast but on lookout for a nest {yes 2nd gen mini) for around £30 as missed out on all the Christmas wars on them.

Hmmm... I've setup about 20 of these now (different houses/routers etc) and never had any major issues, actually the only issue I ever had was when setting up the GH via a phone and the phone tried to connect to the router via 4G, this was resolved by putting the phone into airplane mode and only turning WiFi on, however I believe this issue has been resolved now as I haven't experienced it recently.

You've set it up and added it to your home via the Google home app right? You've asked it to enable Bluetooth so it becomes discoverable, yeah?

Can you post the support threads to the issues you're having? I'll have a read of them.

It now says it's connected to the Router but has no internet, and Bluetooth doesn't do anything. Just says how something went wrong.... FFS.

I have an Airport Extreme, Virgin Hub 3 and my new Mesh... but my iPhone keeps saying Something Went Wrong.

Ummm. You were trying to Bluetooth connect something to it BEFORE you had an internet connection and completed setting up the device?
Like most 'smart' devices, it downloads firmware during initial setup. But you seem 'smart enough' not to have bothered with that.
These devices are very reliable and simple to set up - for people that can follow the simple instructions. Personally, I suspect that the problem lies ... "outside the device".

It is a good device.
This is a decent deal, considering the deals available today, for this G2 Mini.
While the G1 was reduced to clear at £19 (and seems widely sold out online), the G2 has only very rarely dipped below £30, and generally carries a £49 tag today.

For clarity, this is the Google Nest Mini - The 2nd Gen Google mini

Before this was the Google Mini

There is no Google Nest Mini 2 - that would be a successor to this, a 3rd Gen Google mini

Are these much better than the original mini? I have one now but haven't tried it yet (got two og minis in use) but read they just had slightly improved sound. They look identical it seems. Not like the 3rd gen echo dot.
Having said that I think the 1st and 2nd gen echo dot looked the same? The 1st gen was never released into the UK.
If it was the ultra I'd do it.
slightlybearded02/02/2020 00:37

But this is the 2nd gen version?

This is the second generation. They are around £39 at various retailers, the lowest they've been on Amazon is £27, so this is a great deal.

My understanding is they do have an additional microphone in them too, so in theory, should be better at hearing/understanding you.
$49, not $49.99 - heat added

Sound is loads better due to improved bass, it's worth getting if you are going to get one or the other
They are usually £20 and £30 each, aren't they?

30% stronger base than it's predecessor the Google home mini

It's actually 40%
andrewworrall108/02/2020 09:05

It's actually 40%

The nest Mini has a 40mm driver for sound, around the same size that's found in large headphones. ... The Nest Mini still has a 40mm driver, but Google reports that it redesigned the sound system to provide bass that's twice as strong as the first original model
