free Chromecast with existing bt sport subscribers through bt.

Found 17th Nov 2014
I have received an email from BT this morning saying that they are turning off the digital signal for BT sport next year. The channel will be received exclusively via the internet, as a result they are offering a free Chromecast from the BT shop via a code which was sent in the email. I'm not sure if this comes under deals or freebies but check your inboxes or junk.

Upcoming changes to your BT Sport serviceHello,We're in the process of changing the way we deliver BT Sport to our customers. We're turning off the Digital Terrestrial Television signal that allows you to watch our sport channels through your TV aerial, and instead we will be delivering them over the internet.BT Sport 1 will be available on your current service until the middle of next year, so you'll be able to keep watching until the end of the current football season, but you will lose access to BT Sport 2 on your TV via your aerial from 5 January 2015.To make sure that you don't miss out on any of the great BT Sport action on your TV, we'd like to offer you a free Chromecast (worth £30).Chromecast is a thumb-size media device that plugs into the HDMI port found on most TVs. It will stream the BT Sport app to a compatible TV, so you can keep watching all three BT Sport channels on your big screen. You'll also be able to stream movies, download music and browse YouTube and a number of other apps. To get your free Chromecast, simply visit the BT Shop before 31 January 2015 and use this single-use, unique coupon code:

hmmm thought it might be good for some people, obviously I was wrong, still free Chromecast for me :-)

No email sadly

Why don't the useless t****** concentrate on getting their broadband speeds fast enough for some of us to even be able to watch via the "internet" first before offering worthless "freebies" like this!!! No offence to the OP at all, just a rant at useless BT

none taken, unfortunately I realise I'm paying over the odds for phone and broadband however I can't watch rugby cheaper via sky and virgin doesn't exist where I am. but agree if it wasn't for the rugby I would be elsewhere

I have jusr re-newed my contract
The call started by saying my contract was up for re-newal and if i didnt re-new i'd be charged for the sports
Did you want to re-new your package
I asked them to call back and got a better deal
They mentioned nothing about no bt sports
Also nothing wrong with the speed here
I get bang on 76mb

I find hooking my netbook up to the TV and watching BT Sport gives a better experience than going through the Chromecast.

Not sure why but when I watch through the Chromecast it stutters a lot.

it's nothing to do with the speed, it's the way they deliver it over the internet, you should have a look at the forums loads of people are getting the 76mb but it judders constantly unlike any of the other services like iplayer, itv player, 4od or prime instant.

Sod BT Virgin gives BT sports for free with XL TV

Thanks for info. I am a subscriber but haven't received any email. How am I going to record my beloved UFC in future??!!!

i'm on fibre broadband and get good speeds but i also find that it stutters very slightly when i'm streaming bt sport but i also get the same thing watching football with sky go, ok with watching anything else it just seems like it can't keep up with the fast movement in football

Thats my point exactly!!...IF you can't even get a really good picture frame rate using fibre, then what chance do tose of us with speeds of barely over 1 mb/s have?!....Useless BT!

It says about through your aerial, anyone know what about watching it through your Sky box?

I watch it through my sky box and it's great. Just like any other channel. I currently pay £8 per month

Anyone have any ides how I can get this Email? I stopped all the BT Sport emails because they annoyed me beyond belief.

I use iplayer and catch up etc on the tv or stream movies from my tablet or laptop direct from the net
No judder
And thats with others on the net as well as 2 ps3's
Even my neighbour leeching off me
Always tests fadt and never drops
Must be a lucky one then

i dont use the bt home hub 5 as the transfer of data around the house is poor at best and can barely stream 1 thing let along anything else. I bought a pretty good router and combined with a 71mb connection its flawless

Yes, most people receive those services very well. Ironically, it's only BT sports that judders. Makes it unwatchable and practically pointless for sports such as football and rugby.

Calum

just got BT broadband but nothing yet on the email yet...

Ermmm... Not on BT... But isnt the usage capped at something ridiculously low? This would be an easy way of burning that up.

Haven't got the email and nothing on my bt when I sign in

I didn't get the email possibly because I get BT Sport on the Sky platform.

This is a phishing email. Take care.

If you try to buy the chromecast, you have to enter your credit card details, even though it is supposed to be free.

As an 84 yr old subscriber, do I have to obtain and fit 'chromecast'. Modern technology foxes me enough! But I love my BT Sport
