If you try to create an account through the iTunes site and through the launcher you need to add a credit card.

Thanks to lambchop uk for the above link for Sundays downloads - seems to have gone fine. I tried the link given in the paper on Saturday (itunes.co.uk/spring) and all I got was a page of chargeable tracks by a group called "Spring" !!! anybody got a better link?
