It's just a long bike with an electric motor, perfectly safe in capable hands. It's bad driving that makes riding bikes unsafe.

Pringles probably have crack in them. I left a tube open by accident for a few weeks then ate a couple and they were crisp and tasted like it had just been opened. God knows what crap they are made with but that isn't right they should have been soft if they were made with real ingredients

Co-op offer 10 percent discount with student union cards in store, so it might apply for delivery too.

People pay it wife works there and they buy it out of convenience and lazyness or that nowhere else is open.
Expensive and poor choice.

Nice.
The Co-op used to do a free delivery service in Gateshead, (by Van) 16 years ago. Then it was a £15.00 minimum spend as well. It was a god's send to people with small children, disabled and elderly. I don't know if it stopped because I moved from there.

Yeah I think this is the idea behind it. It may not replace a family’s ‘big shop’ but for those top ups or times when you just need some bits, but are struggling to get out to the shops for whatever reason - this may work for people.

I think id use this where I know I’ve not got food in for that night, maybe we are having friends over or it’s sunday lunch time - handy to get a quick delivery. Maybe it will catch on and be available more widespread.

It is not just a long bike with with an electric motor. in between the rider and the front wheel is a load compartment that can make it very unstable and difficult to control in tight spots. One would have to be more than capable to ride this thing in heavy traffic. Why on earth they did not put 2 wheel steering on it god only knows. Maybe the MK 2 will have them.

I've seen plenty of people ride bikes like this, so we'll have to disagree.

The future is here... but I can already see teenagers take a free rider on these things, and that nice clear white casing being the perfect canvas for graffiti.

Fascinating stuff though! Here's a video report on these robots...

Funny, it didn't feel like my riding was at fault when an impatient yob yesterday threatened to break my finger last night in London.

Anyone who buys a big shop from co-op must be nuts, prices ridiculous, hence the Pringles post above. Pringles should only be bought when often £1.12 half price or a quid at Morrisons for the proper size tub.

They're slowly becoming the norm in countries like Denmark and the Netherlands and cargo bikes in various shapes and forms have been around donkeys years. If it were so unsafe to ride them, they wouldn't be on the roads.

Whilst we're on the subject,I think Zedify may be the company providing the service.

What makes electric bikes eco friendly? Where does the electricity come from to charge them? Do co-op have a load of solar or wind farms I don't know about?

The comparison made is an electric bike Vs delivery van. Even if the van was electric, it would still consume far more resources per mile of its life. The van of course can carry far more, but it depends on using the appropriate vehicle for a particular function/route.
