NHS funded IAPT courses, im assuming they are in most areas but this one is only for users of Bristol based gp surgeries

copy and paste blurb....

We run a wide variety of free psycho-educational courses around a range of psychological and emotional difficulties. We aim to help people feel as comfortable and as welcome as possible, so no-one will be asked to do anything that they do not wish to. There are no “ice-breaker” exercises and no-one will be asked to speak individually. However, if you want to share a thought or experience or ask a question, then you are more than welcome to do so. The courses are run by members of the psychology service.

To find an IAPT service in your area you can search here.

PA; do remember to take the time to celebrate what you've done right fellow hoomans - even if you're currently enjoying somesort of terrible misery-puke inducing experience from behind your eyes. It might not seem genuine - but there's a hug being written into this very text for everyone to enjoy. Providing you like hugs.

Stay strong, keep breathing and stay safe.

no worries, thanks!, they might not do the exact same things as Bristol though but worth a look around to see what they do offer.
IAPT courses are available in most places if I recall correctly. I'm not sold on this kind of CBT if I'm honest, it's too much of box ticking affair, mental health care on the cheap, too distant and prescriptive such that they think you'll be better if they just keep telling you that you are.

That said it is effective for some people, maybe I'm a bit too pessimistic but mental health has been subject to brutal austerity and I can't help feel that IAPT is a way for them to save money.

I used them. It was one to one talking therapy. You are asked to fill in a few questions to assess your levels in different areas of your mind/life. Takes about 2 minutes in the waiting room before you go in. Its an hour a week for 12 weeks. I did 10 weeks by then I was feeling much better. Big thank you to Rosea X.

Could this be why my dad said "you'd have to be mad to go to Bristol"?
