Free Credit Report at no cost EVER! Free for life!

Saw this on MSE and thought it may be helpful to users on HUKD.

I know it's been on here before but posting as it may benefit those that missed it last time.

The Noddle membership service will give access to the full credit report it produces

Two major agencies, Equifax and Experian, both offer free membership trials but charge after 30 days if users fail to cancel.

Noddle; operated by Callcredit, won't give you a complete picture of your credit worthiness as Callcredit is the smallest of the three credit agencies, but hopefully it will give some users a picture of their current standing.

except your details

if you have credit, chances are they already have it;)

Why offer this level of vital information?

Used this for around 18 month now, it's free because they target credit to your worthiness. However I simply went into settings and turned it off.

Is this genuine

thanks op

I think that's how they verify your identity. My partner's been usind Noddle for a while now. It's legit. They get all their info from CallCredit, but you don't get to see your credit score and they can be pretty unhelpful if they've given you a low rating but nothing in the information they give you shows what it is (i.e. they just say "sorry, can't help. you need to buy your credit report").

I've heard some horror stories about callcredit peeps ! Be cautious

I've been using noddle for over a year and I like it. Very informative on credit checking and how to improve it.

Noddle is the site for 'CallCredit' which is the other credit company in the UK. The three main are Experian, Equifax and Callcredit. This site is genuine and good for an overview of credit report. Includes details of credit you've had and negatives on your file but you must pay to get your actual credit score. Great features for the free report though and no pressure to 'upgrade' like the other providers do..

I have been using this for a while, it has 80% of my credit information which I think is quite good considering some creditors do not update these agencies anyway. Free report is good enough for me.

Of course no-one should actually even consider paying to get their "actual credit score" as there is no such thing. Every credit provider will have their own score - one provided by Callcredit would be worth exactly £0.00 as it would add nothing - the credit report information IS worth something, so getting it for free (even if only the CallCredit info) is worth doing.

Thanks

I have used this for the past year and it is good to keep an eye on things. I recently used it to find out that Orange had classed me as having not paid for 2 months because I was disputing the final bill. A strongly worked letter and all was fixed I would not have known otherwise

Nice one!

thanks

BEWARE !!!

This Website asks for your credit card details "to confirm your identity".

Fair enough - but why do they need the security code off the back of my card if its a free service???????

I am tempted to try this. My wife and I are looking to improve our credit score in preparation for getting a mortgage next year. Should I be worried about the credit card details that are required? Or should I not take the risk and just sign up for Experian and cancel after 30 days?

Some companies verify by either putting a small amount in your account (PayPal put 1p in when verifying my cards the ther day), or take a small charge and refund you. Though I didn't notice Noddle doing this with my account when I used them and I haven't noticed any dodgy behaviour from them wrt my bank details.

It might be worth a try to see if there's anything major you need to work on, but if there are problems (like incorrect data on your credit file etc.) you'd have to inform the big three anyhow. From experience, CallCredit are very unhelpful (either contacting them directly or going through Noddle) if you want them to change incorrect information they hold on you. Equifax and Experian not so much - sorted problems within a week whether we were paying customer or free trial *shrug*. That said, Experian provide a good service from my experience so maybe save the 30-day free trial with them 'til you are closer to getting your mortgage?

True what you are saying. Maybe OP's first job should have been to search free credit report and he would see its the second on the list And then maybe say on title 'Its a repost' or send some praise to the first the guy.

Hardly any people browse back more than 2 weeks back. It dont mean you repost every 2 weeks

Thats what I was thinking serencadi, go for this free one to get an idea on what needs to be worked on and then closer to the time (probably next year) use the other services to get a more clear picture on how we are getting on.

I think I might give it a go

Very true.. I've had no need to pay for my score as I can view all I need with the free features.

Prepare to get spammed with newsletters, credit card promotions and constant emails badgering you, all in return for the most basic of basic credit reports. Be warned.

I signed up, like similar sites its only a BASIC report, or pay monthly for a DETAILED report, but I am actually glad I signed up, its well-structured and well-presented and I was quite surprised by some info on there which may help me improve my rating.

However PLEASE NOTE before you sign up : CREDIT CARD Details NEEDED..

Nice scaremongering there. The addition of all those questions marks also helps your point.

Been using Noddle for a few years now, really useful to be able to check credit information and see when details have been updated (like address changes...).

Edit: to all the other people above just making assumptions about a service they haven't even tried...thanks for just spewing out nonsense.

Ive only just signed up for a 30 day trial elsewhere (cashback!), as didn't realise I would get declined my first credit card when colleagues in debt and barely out of school have the same one... Bad credit better than no credit it seems and didn't help that I had recently moved.

Anyway thanks for the post will try this next month

Hi, I have been a member of Noddle for nearly 2 years now and I have to say it is not bad considering it's free. Don't worry about them asking questions about confirming your identity. It is standard and I (for one) have had no problems. Just ensure that the website you are on starts with https://. The "s" is in the important part. I have tried the others and they are good, but after your trial expires, it does become quite expensive. Hope your credit score is what you expected it to be.:)

Not scare mongering - Just scared.

Work for them do you ???????(x infinity)
