Another freebie with the Greggs app! Just as the second round of the very yummy granola has ended.

These sound delicious!

i had the email. set account up last week...no idea how i redeem everything....?

Original Poster

They're under 'rewards', on your app, then you press on 'scan', and hold next to the scanner in the shop, but actually, they're really helpful in the Greggs shops, so they'll assist

You can also turn rewards on and off depending on when you want to redeem them.

For example, every 8th coffee is free, but if you buy a breakfast deal, like a bacon roll, coffee only costs an additional 25p or something. So redeeming a free coffee then seems silly - turn off the offer, pay for the 25p coffee, and then turn it back on and get the free coffee later.

Since I posted earlier, an email's now arrived for my wife, and it's now live on her account as well, which it wasn't earlier today. Saves an unseemly fight in the local Greggs over a bag of popcorn.

Greggs are acting, as they always seem to do, sensibly over this, and, as you say, dishing out the freebies to everyone with the app. It doesn't cost them much, but what it does cost ir repaid many times over in customer goodwill.

Ye, I really like Greggs. Great service, very clean shops, really tasty food, and their coffee is so nice. Plus, I'd definitely buy that granola bar that was given free last time, it was bloomin lovely

Yay!. It has appeared on my Greggs account as of 17:05.
Not yet in my sister's account. Will appear soon

also if the app won't work on your phone or you have a windows phone or something, you can just use website or mobile website and it will generate a code. this can be typed either by you or staff in Greggs on the chip and pin manchine to give you freebie in same way as scanning app barcode.

I'm new to this so just got the app, for the rewards thing do I just scan code and pay or do I have to top up account first?

I've had that happen before - the expiry dates have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I have a couple of outstanding freebies - lucozade, free crisps and another one - can I go and pick up all of the free items at the same time, or can it only be one item per visit? Thank you.

Are you sure it was 19th October? It was 19th September for me, and then changed to 26th September - both of which are now past tense. :-)

You can also do the same when you buy hot drinks - scan every time you buy, and pay by cash, card, etc.

It took a while - there was a few weeks when the app was relaunched when the staff were a bit useless with it. I think they're used to it now.

Yes, mine too

Mine said expires 26 September the first time. After a couple of days it changed to 19th October. I claimed the granola bar on the 26th September because I knew it wouldn't be there the next day as I had lost a free welcome hot drink before (for the same reason, thinking I had more time to claim the freebie).

Probably what happened to me.
Shame, as the gronala bars are nice, but they never have them in stock in Norfolk!!

Try in the morning - they regard them as part of the breakfast range.

do you need to have credit on your account to receive the freebies

No - I never use it to pay. Just for collecting coffee "stamps" and freebies.

I'm waiting/hoping they have them free festive bakes again.
If not sausage rolls will do.:)

Got mine today, had the cider vinegar ones, a bit disappointing compared to the amazing Tyrell's ones but edible. More of a soft, less intense flavour. One crisp was like a shard, full of fat and one had a green bit on.

The Thai Sweet Chilli ones had a bit more bite than I expected. Nice though, and free is a good price (as someone in my office would say).

My granola bar expiry date was 26th September. When I went to get it that day, they didn't have it in stock and so I thought I missed the offer. But I just checked the app and it's still there, now with an expiry date of 26th October with the crisps/popcorn expiring on the 25th
