This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Been playing a lot of Destiny 2 since it’s inclusion on PS Plus monthly games, however I haven’t invested in any DLC.

Logged on this morning for the start of season 7 and discovered that the first two expansions, The Curse of Osiris and Warmind are free for base game players following an update.

No official word released from Bungie whether this is a glitch or an intentional giveaway, but a lot of other vanilla players have confirmed this on multiple forums and community boards.

Cannot confirm whether this is also on Xbox or PC.

This is what ****** me off about Bungie and Destiny - they treat their loyal fanbase like crap. Anyone who bought Destiny 2 at launch would have felt pigsick when Bungie gave the main game away free (on PS4 and PC, at least), a little over a year after release. Now they are giving away the Season Pass content as well. Great for those who don't have it already, but a kick in the teeth for those early adopters.

I got stung investing in Destiny 1, and held back from investing in Destiny 2. The way things are going, if they bother with Destiny 3, no-one will buy it, as everyone will hold back and wait for Bungie to give that away too.

Heat for the freebie regardless, glad I held out

Do you ever buy blu rays, books, electrical goods, a car, etc when they are first released? Ever checked up on that said product 6 months or a year down the line? Guess what... It's cheaper than it was than the day it came out!!

Nope not free on pc

Nope not free on pc

Just to clarify, I did not need to download anything.
When I (and many others) opened the game, the planets of Mars and Mercury were available on the destinations screen and the content made playable.

Previously the planets simply did not show on the selection screen.

Just wanted to make it clear that there is no link to follow and that it seemed to be included as part of the update!

First time poster.
I don’t get it
I just bought Destiny 2 for £2.

Good news.

I keep getting kicked off due to my connection.

Im going to set up a wired connection to sort it out. Heat.
Thanks

My thoughts exactly, I couldn’t help but feel for the people who have invested as I have a LOT of game here and I’ve not paid a penny.

All that is left is Forsaken to be made free and I’ve spent nearly £80 less than most players for all the content... incredible really.

Problem is people do still buy it. EA have been getting away with it for years.

Meh, Primark is cheap enough anyway :-p

Seriously though, it's apples and oranges. Games do get discounted, some faster than others, and some do eventually get given away free, with PS+ or Xbox Game Pass for example. What is frustrating with Destiny is that you are encouraged to buy into the game, snap up the add-ons, only for them to be made free later on and you, as an early adopter, get nothing in return and are expected to fork out more to stay up to date. Which means I, and others, don't feel the need to invest in the game, or future games.

When Destiny 1 came out, I supported Bungies new IP because I enjoyed Halo, so I bought the Digital Deluxe with Season Pass and thought I had the complete game. Rookie mistake - Taken King released a year later, and suddenly the game I had invested so much into was out of date. Worse, with Digital I was stuck, whilst those with the original Destiny disc could sell it to offset the cost of the Taken King physical release - which was the same price as what I was expected to pay for the add-on on it's own. It just felt like a slap in the face, considering the investment and trust I had put in.
I don't get why people are angry that this is free. It's outdated content now that no one is really playing and bungie are presumably trying to expand the player base. It's like complaining you bought a bottle of coke and then find out some people are giving out promotional cans outside the train station?

Only one way to stop companies charging for dlc and that is if people don't buy it then they will get the message. I stopped buying dlc a few years back as sick of being screwed by developers. Reckon if you buy a game at full price you shouldn't have to fork out again for a few maps or skins which are just a cash cow to milk profit for minimal work.

Don't listen to him, the hate it got was because the content was so small for curse of osaris, that was somewhat improved with Warmind. So for the great price of "Free" you are actually getting a good deal.

I dont get your logic. People had a blast playing Destiny 2 for a full year, then Bungie were kind enough to make the base game free for people who never played thought about Playing Destiny 2 before.
Adding more players to the player base, which benefits early adopters too.

With Call Of Duty Blackout less than a year released, alot of early adopters are saying Treyarch should make this game mode free to play.
Wont hear any moaning from us fans, as it will mean more players added to player base and continued support, (maybe even more so now), from the developers.

I don't think buying games can be said as investing

I think he's talking about time, rather than money...in which case, games can definitely be considered "investing".
I bought the lot with Destiny 1, got a lot of game time for my money, but it was massively diminishing returns for the expansions compared to the base game. Bought Destiny 2 with no expansions for £25, by then the first expansion was out so it was already outdated due to level caps more than anything. Won’t bother next time as it was free soon after.

They need to at least give people who buy Destiny 3 a year with access to the same weapons and level cap before rolling out a £30-£40 annual expansion. A month or so after that then giving away the first year would be fine. It is the fact they expect you to pay for the game AND £40 of minor expansions in the first year that really takes the biscuit.
Edited by: "sibeer" 6th Jun
I don't get the moaning and whining on this thread. If you MADE A CHOICE to buy DLC for £40 one year ago, then played said DLC for 40, 80, 120(?) hours, then you've got your money's worth. If the developer gives the DLC away for free ONE YEAR AFTER it was released, in order to get more new customers to hopefully buy the newest DLC, what's the problem?
updated my free ps4 psplus copy im only level 7 have hardly played it but theres only the earth, titan and the farm on the destinations screen available maybe because ive not completed enough of the base game though

there seems to be sillouets of planets there though one on each side of the farm, one to the far right below that forsaken and below earth 2 smaller planets that are sillouets aswell all inacessable

It does suck a bit when things go free that you paid for. But the flip side is that the game gets an often much needed injection of player numbers as a result. Take Battlefield 1 for example, I was more pleased to see increased player numbers on the dlc maps than I was annoyed some players got them for free.

Bungie did rip people off in a terrible fashion with Destiny 1. They may have made a good gesture but will need a few more yet to make up for what they did.

Yes and no. This is MMO game, not a sandbox or campaign for 10-20h and game is done. If people get for free D2 core - still they need to speend XXXHOURS to get good gear, stuff, unlock a new layers of game. Later on DLC1 and 2, Forsaken, Season of Armory/Drifter and now Opulance? Well, new DLC is almost announced so they want just increase a data base but thats good for players. I understand if the AC Odyssey, next year will be available for 3 days for free but wont happen If someone want just beat a story and switch the game, lose like 75% content of game.

I think the base game AND the expansions are all due to be announced as free-to-play at some point today. It looks like Engadget have just leaked it a little early, but when I clicked their link it's now a dead page...

'Destiny 2’ is now free-to-play, including its year-one expansion engt.co/2IsKSHU

It leads to engadget.com/201…ay/
