Free drinking water at London Euston station

I noticed at Euston a couple of days ago that they've installed a drinking water fountain for you to refill your own bottles, although it's not signposted and is in a location most people won't see. On the concourse if you carry on walking past the ramp down to platform 1 it's on the right hand side near the loos.

No trains at Euston for next few weekends . Even DC line Overground trains to Watford not running. Tickets cannot be used on any other line when they close. Dont fall for with these free gimmicks when they dont even bother to run the trains .

London=moan, moan, moan, moan. When do you expect them to carry out maintenance?

Go to London! I guarantee you'll either be mugged or not appreciated. Catch the train to London, stopping at Rejection, Disappointment, Backstabbing Central and Shattered Dreams Parkway.

I always find it strange when British people think London is like this, while it’s one of the most popular tourist destination in the world.

I get it from those that came to London and couldn’t make it, so hold a grudge. But if you’re coming from somewhere like Sunderland, it will blow your mind.

Be concerned if they were giving out free bathing water in a train station!

I know

I can't wait to leave London

All I need is to find somewhere first

It's amazing the things people complain about it.

I mean, the train system alone is an engineering marvel alone.

Do you have dates because I have a ticket booked from Euston to Liverpool, the back to Euston Station. Date of my journey is 6th August to 14th August so would I be affected in any way.
Just tell me when they finally make the toilets free (by law).

Literally take the P...

"Some engineering works will completely close London Euston on 18-19, 25-27 August and 1-2 September.

There will be no services to or from London Euston across these dates, so we recommend that you don’t attempt to travel from the station on these dates. If you need to travel on these dates and plan to use alternative routes, please plan your trip carefully, allow a bit longer to get to your destination and double-check your journey plans before you travel."

It's a quote from a famous light entertainment broadcaster
Any licensed premises in the UK has to by law provide you with free drinking tap water if requested even if you are not a paying customer. Any pub, cafe, bar, nightclub, take away, restaurant you name it they can not refuse you by law.
Collected from the sweat of London Euston Staff ....for that Earthy flavour.....

This is the stupidest thing I think I have ever read.

Just came back from a trip to London. The place is perfectly fine. No different from any other place is it? Bitter much?
Lots of free water in the airports. Although in Stansted where Ryanair are prominent, I bet the water is free, but there is charge for the machine!!

Is the water filtered?
The number of people who haven't heard of Alan partridge is astonishing. Guess they're all Londoners so can't see the TV through the smog.

I've heard this mentioned before, but can you point to which particular piece of legislation states it?
There's also one at Liverpool Street.

Free drinking water. But you get charged to use the station toilet facilities....
At least you wont be thirsty when stabbed to death and robbed
I thought the UN had clean drinking water down as a fundamental human right.........so guess they have to provide it if u haven't got the 30p for the hot water only in the bogs...........awful station, it can get to over 40c on the platforms when the trains are gushing out heat from the diesels and AC units

You have more chance of getting mugged in some hole of a town around the uk than in london.

Nope - it's only England, Scotland and Wales. There is no such legislation in Northern Ireland.

The legislation comes under the Licensing Act (different act in Scotland) and basically means that a condition of granting an alcohol licence is that the venue must provide free potable (fit to drink) water to customers. Theoretically (and legally) they could refuse if you are not a paying customer.

Also, because of the way that it is worded, the Act means that establishments are only legally required to provide the actual water for free. In other words, they would be within their rights to charge for eg filtering, the vessel it is supplied in, service etc etc.
When they give free beer at Euston I’ll be interested
