Thanks, ordered
Now even the little people can enjoy fruit!
We have planted an orchard last month and paid no more £5.00 for the trees. Pound stretcher were selling them at £2.99 and they are all coming on nicely.
Can you get more than one?

Would they fruit this year or do you reckon a years wait?
So you are paying £6 to get maybe 6-8 Apples per year?
Why?
Free postage on a £5.95 apple tree doesn't sound as good?
You may have to wait a couple of years for it to bear any fruit if you are lucky!
you can use your free £5 voucher to get a 2nd 1 for just 65p
Thanks ordered. Have some heat.
Apples are usually required in pairs to help germinate the fruit iirc. so best to buy 2 of these.

Can anyone tell how many apples you'd get off these?

What voucher?
I'd be cautious ordering from Thompson & Morgan; twice I've purchased these 'deals' where you only pay for the postage and I didn't receive anything from them on either occasion - they also refused to refund the postage as they claim they'd sent my items out.

Buying 2 trees of the same variety will not help pollination . Golden Delicious is "partially self-fertile" so will set some fruit, but will do much better when planted with another variety in the same flowering group (4) - have a look at the list here -

after you make the order for 1 apple tree, on the confirmation email they'll be a £5 off your next purchase code within that email

That's why I put in "iirc", as I knew they had to be set with other apple trees. Thanks for the clarification.

Too true!
Okay I don't know if its a good deal or if you'll just get a twig or whatever, but seriously why would anyone want to grow 'Golden Delicious' apples, horrible flavourless things, whoever named them delicious was surely taking the p***.
I put a tree in I got on reduced for about a quid in b&m 3yr ago, ha now way I was paying £2.99 last year I had more apples than I could eat from it, and the bloody birds or something had half of them before they were ripe.

I got golden delicious tree from pound stretcher 6 years ago it's now big about 18 foot and I get about 20 apples off it ....trying to keep aphids ,birds and ants away ain't easy

No chance this year. At least 2-3 years till they flower and maybe fruit. Bought loads of fruit tree deals (T&M, Yougarden, Groupon etc...) over past 3 years, waste of money so far...

i just did this too Two bonsai apple trees for £6 is going to be great
You could actually keep spamming the promotional voucher and get further ones for 65p but if they catch onto that they'll probably cancel the orders so I'm just sticking with 2

You have to feed them to get them to flower/ fruit. It has to have the right mix of nutrients too

What feed do you recommend, I used bone meal mixed in the soil when I first planted mine and they are all thriving well after five weeks. I see you can purchase Vitax 200g Fruit Tree Grease or
Defenders Fruit Tree Grease Band to fight against infestations.

The three basic elements of any fertilizer are Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P) and Potassium (K), with each element serving different purposes. Nitrogen increases growth of leaves and stems, Phosphorus encourages healthy root growth and Potassium encourages growth of fruits and flowers. So essentially you need to look carefully on the npk values and choose the one which serves the purpose

Yes but then you need to pay extra postage but nothing for the tree

ordered one ,thanks.
This is one of the most tasteless apples you can buy. Supermarkets sell them because they produce regular shaped fruit that keeps well. But if you grow your own why not get a variety that tastes good. It doesn't have to keep as you can eat it off the tree.
You can get apple trees elsewhere jsut as cheap if you shop around and they will be a lot bigger and fruit sooner than these.
