i just use the normal ones (low energy i mean not old fashioned type) and they work fine.:)

As I don't get any benefits and using old bulbs, and having no insualtion ........ am I morally justified in not saving the earth as I am not deemed eligible for any help?

FFS, if these people were out looking for jobs, then they would not need to have the light on all bloody day - what a saving that would be

Not really much of a deal-shops are practically giving these away already.

Thanks for that, I did hear someone on TV yesterday evening say they had technology for all types of light these days - but I doubt I can see myself paying nearly £10 for a light bulb though...

Hi, my dads a sparky and we had him fit some in our litle ones rooms as they have dimmers he put in a completely different ceiling rose fitted to the ceiling that you then put special bulb into and its all low energy, but unless you know an elctrician or fancy changing them yourself this could be pricey. you shoul not put normal low energy bulbs in where you have dimmers.

Gotta remember that if you take the car to pick up cheap light bulbs, you might just add more CO2 to the atmosphere than you'll save in doing so.

It's about saving the planet, not about ME.

42 days delivery????????

It is a long delivery time. That's government departments for you. ;-)

I think they do arrive earlier generally, but they have to factor in high demand and therefore state a maximum time.

By the time it's received, you'll have forgotten you ordered it. It'll be a nice surprise.

By the way, the image shows the wrong type I'm afraid - the fittings are all bayonet, not screw.

So you want the government to give away energy saving light bulbs and to set up a huge distribution centre to be able to cope with peaks in demand and pay for a next day delivery. You don't want much do you!

I have been using a low energy light bulb in dimmer for over a year.

You have to have it on "full" otherwise it just flashes.

I switch it on and quickly turn to full power. No probs yet

Does this mean that if you do get a job you will then have to give them back?

So that would mean you are on contribution based JSA and therefore not eligible for this offer?

I wonder if these deals are actively promoted by the Job Centres etc? It's great that the government is trying to reduce CO2 and getting those who can't afford to do much about it at least, but they'd do well to let everyone who's eligible know at the point where those people have to visit I reckon.

Contribution based only runs for a maximum 180days approx so if you havent found work by that time you move to income based so therefore eligibilty would be there.

I really hope the people slating the unemployed who are out of work through no fault of there own never find themselves in the position as it is not an easy ride or a great time.

Living on nothing struggling to juggle bills and havin cabin fever does not bode well with all who would rather be out there.
