The best bit about the old days of getting in for free was utilising the many entrance and exit gates. Now you have to use the common, single controlled entrance.
Bring back the Gold Mine!
Blackpool pleasure beach is no longer free entry? Boo!

So much enjoyment to be had watching people going on the wild mouse expecting a gentle family coaster when I was a kid.

pleasure beach..sounds dodgy ha ha
sounds like you can have admission into the ground and explore some of the static features but all the rides still cost money
Yeah..cany believe you have to pay just to walk round the place

Yeah, seems a bit odd to picture Blackpool Tower and Central Pier which is about a mile away, may as well have posted a pic of Big Ben!

Space invaders has been gone for 8 years and relocated to Brean Leisure Park
used to always be free.... until the greedy daughter got control
That will be Amanda Thomson who destroyed Southport pleasure beach by charging and renting rides out to it at extortionate rates after her dad died in 2004 she killed it and won't be happy till she does the same to Blackpool
How much of a pleasurable beach is blackpool these days?

A band can be bought for about £22 online and let's you go on all the rides as many times as you like

Maybe not as many times as you like...we waited in line for over an hour for most rides including the kids ones! All in all think we maybe managed 6 rides from opening til closing!
what is the point in bringing this out now, that kids are back at school? only good for local people and even then they only get about 1.5hrs max after school
Me and the girlfriend spent the day here a few weeks ago and although my wristband only cost me £20 I thought the rides were a discrace , the amount of money they must bring in and I couldn't see much of it being spent on the rides , they were bumpy and uncomfortable and noisy, I felt like I was living in he 90's , everything felt so outdated , now I am probably a theme park snob as I've been to Florida and done all of the parks there 3+ times but still, personally I'd reccomend not going and keeping your spine in tact
Isn't the 7th & 8th a school day?
Born and raised in Blackpool, one of the best things being a kid was going down to the Pleasure Beach, might go on 2 or 3 rides, and that's it. Most locals did it. No one does it any more.

They need to start charging for access to Blackpool itself if thats the case. Chavvy, cheesy and frankly dirty (and not in a good way)

Its a marketing ploy clearly. I think Blackpool does very little on weekdays now so its to try to drum up trade by allowing you in "free" when they should never have been charging people in the first place (and used to not)

It used to be people went to Blackpool for a week. Now they go for a day or the weekend tops so their opportunity to get revenue is much more limited.

Oddly its nowhere near the beach and its hardly pleasurable due to the crowds of people and location.

School ends about 3.15 in Blackpool, but I imagine it is to encourage adults to go when its a kid free zone.

+1

We went for the weekend (for old times sake) last year during the iluminations and whilst we wouldnt have necessarily went on any of the rides, we'd have happily whiled away an hour or two pottering about probably having buns, drinks, coffees, etc. Their loss....

Been three times this summer including weekend dates, never queued for more than 40 mins and most rides were under 10 mins queue... plan your ride times a little, eat food outside normal times so you get on the major rides when everyone else is stuffing their faces etc.. its not rocket science if you use your noggin...

Difficult to plan ride times if ALL of the rides have massive lines! I have been out of season when it's been raining and even then we couldn't get on a ride in 10 minutes!
