You have to be over 40 and then willing to sign the blue GOS1 form stating that this is indeed the case, as well as include your doctor's details. This will then be verified.
Last time I had a test all I had to do was provide a signature - no proof of anything. How on earth would my doctor (of whom I gave no details ) know whether my mother had been diagnosed or not? Finally, as I said, the fact that I have absolutely no biological connection to my mother had no bearing whatsoever.
You signed an affirmation on the GOS1 form that you're related to someone with glaucoma. Deliberately claiming an NHS constitutes fraud in that case, although whether you'd ever be tracked down is another matter entirely. See the following page for more details on claiming NHS funded sight tests.

If you read my original post you will see that I am indeed related to someone with glaucoma and have pointed out that there is no actual genetic connection. Please read what I said before implying that fraud has been committed and making libelous comments. tsk tsk
Oh right, so I have an eye test with them coming up at Pinstone st Sheffield, can you show me online where it states free? Cheapest I can see is a voucher for a £10 eye test.
Nope. MrBeans is right, I used that glaucoma thing for years, I'm nowhere near 40, they NEVER ask for anything, just go 'ok then'.
correct
What? You pretty much admitted in your first post that you're taking advantage of the NHS sight test. Also, signing the GOS1 form puts you in the wrong if you're knowingly abusing the system.
If you actually read the NHS sight test entitlements you'll see that for a family history of glaucoma you need to be over 40. It's there in black and white.
No because I have other issues, you dont know everything mate.
I can tell you for a fact that specsavers doesnt bother with that
Well then that's not an NHS sight test.
yep it was
I admitted nothing of the sort if you actually read my first post.
Never have I said that I have signed form GOS1 and in fact I pointed out that I have been totally upfront.
Might I suggest an eye test could be of benefit?
Sorry to just query this but perhaps I'm misreading your first post but when you state-
...the natural inference is that you're claiming an NHS sight test despite knowing that you're not at risk of a family history of glaucoma. If you read that blue form posted above (especially the last signing liability clause) then you'd be on tenuous grounds for an accurate claim. Of course if you're not signing that form then it's not an NHS sight test (as the NHS isn't paying for it without that claim form) and you're getting a free test at Specsavers expense and it's nothing to do with the NHS observations you make.
It does read as if you're playing the NHS sight test system in that post, whether that's a misinterpretation something else. Although this has kind of devolved away from the point, and if not blue forms were signed then the point is completely moot.
2- Some are entitled to free NHS sigh tests.
BUT you will never ever see a blue form in Specsavers, I used to work there years ago.
Then I was a customer, not any more. Shambles.
As you have accurately quoted, I have pointed out that I have told them I have no genetic relationship and yet they insist that I have a free test. Not once have I tried to "play the system". If anything, the opposite is true.
I didn't read any reference to the GOS1 form. Neither did I get the impression they were "playing the system", quite the opposite in fact. Maybe you should take up the deal yourself.
Each location has a print voucher on it, hope you pick this up before you go and it's not too late Pinstone street link below.

Cheers BB, my mum has and my grandad had glaucoma so should be eligible for a free test. Either way I can claim it back through private medical insurance if they refuse.
Thanks.
