Tesco do free eye tests no voucher needed

But do Tesco include retinal photography in their free test?

Thanks OP!

I blame HOTUKDEALS for the deterioration of my eyes X)

wouldnt touch tesco opticians with a barge pole, they sell inferior glasses, wont fix them when they break and gave my son the wrong contact lenses.

I had the free eye test at tesco but went to specsavers for my new glasses as they are strangely so expensive in tesco!

Guess who I bumped into yesterday in the opticians. .........

So every Tesco dispensing is faulty then is it? And, every high street optician has never made an error?

Who?

be careful with those free eye tests, my personal experience (may not apply to all): last time I went there the 'optician' at specsaver was really rude since she knows I am having a free eye test, rushing through the test in 5 minutes, result was I 've changed to long-sighted after being short-sighted for 20 years (it was of course wrong and I did another 2 tests both contradicting the result)

I too have had my eyes tested at Tesco for free. I didn't have any problems with them and it was very convenient for me because I just booked an appointment for when I needed to go grocery shopping

I think you just got a rude optician. I would have thought the idea of the free test was to get you in store so they could sell you some glasses while you're in there, so they would still need to be polite/competent.

Oddly, the link takes me to a voucher which is valid until 31 May. If I click through the site to my local store I get a link for a free eye test which takes me to a voucher which is valid till 28 June.

Hot deal anyway as it's either Specsavers or Boots in our pokey little town!

Some of the low opticians too, there is one down the hill from me, she makes loads of errors!oO

TESCO's always free!

When you can buy quality frames in Poundland it does make you wonder what a massive mark-up specs are!!

But then, Poundland don't have to furnish themselves with expensive kit to examine your eyes with. No assistant at Poundland would ever be able to detect that you had a retinal detachment or perhaps a tumour on the optic nerve. Whereas an optician will detect these things that may save your sight or even your life.

Hardly the same since they're not prescription glasses.

Read what I wrote ..... FRAMES .... I'm not talking about the lenses.

And what has the cost of the FRAMES got to do with the eye test? nothing!

Frames are a rip-off ... if Poundland can sell decent frames, then we are being stitched up if we are paying £99 for frames!

If you get a free eye test, how do you think that is going to be funded? It gets funded by jacking up the cost of the provision of the frames and lenses. You don't expect opticians to run their practises at a loss do you?

well that's cos I m already wearing a pair from another store, if I went for specsaver i probably couldn't tell

Spec Savers are a bunch of cowboys!

Bunch of cowboys.

I had my eyes tested by them a couple of years ago and was told I would need to pair of glasses for 'eye cleansing' purposes. I smelt a rat so went and had them checked by an independent optician, who had never heard of such a term and told me I had perfect vision.

Anyone would think the aim of this free offering is to lure punters through the door and try any means possible to flog a pair of goggles...

You don't have your eyes tested by Specsavers, you have them tested by an optician. It is ludicrous to suggest that all opticians who work at or for Specasvers are in some way lacking competence. Read this:

Oh, I guess the person I know who recently worked in the local branch must've made up the story about all staff - including the opticians - being on commission. They really care about my well-being over and above what I might spend.

Commission does not dictate the quality of an eye test. The competence of the testing optometrist dicates that. Would you say that the optometrist at Specsavers in the article I asked you to read cared more about his patient or his perceived bonus?

Frames are expensive because the eye tests are free...

It's the only way to maintain the business, in other countries an eye test costs like £30-£50 pounds... And in some opticians it's around £100.

In England Specsavers created the free eye test and in turn frame prices had to go up in order to compensate that...

Just a little info...

Specs were a rip off when opticians had a monopoly, they stitched the public up just as dentists do today, Maggie ended the opticians rip-off, about time someone ended the dentistry ripoff now!

Sadly you can't buy the ability to notice which part of your rant somebody is responding to from any store, even though they edited your rant to make it perfectly clear. You do seem to be missing some capital letters and punctuation though ... maybe you should get your eyes tested

You've deftly rambled from twittering about the cost of frames to the amount of commission that optical staff may or may not be paid and then onto dentistry. Where will it end?

Well spotted, you certainly don't need glasses I just thought this is a casual context comment so I didn't use the capital letters and get the comment written in formal tones, sadly there are sad people who spend all day looking for punctuation and capital letter mistakes on deal sites. Get a life.

By the way, you've admitted (with your 'well-spotted' reply) editing other people's comments and manipulating it. It is what you did what was wrong, not something else. I was going to let it go but since you brought it up again, I would advise you to to correct your mistakes, rather than trying to get away with it by changing the subject and blame others '''punctuation mistakes'. You are not doing yourself a favor and there is no way to get around this, sadly.

I suggest you to get your eyes tested since you did not read that I already mentioned my eye tests in my previous comments Don't bother replying, you are ignored mate.
Sorry for the long comments guys, I was worried this guys is incapable of understanding English in its causal format. Sadly you can't buy that ability.

So reading all the comments and rants can anyone her suggest a good opticians to use?
