Before seeing your Optometrist, you'll have an eye health screening, which will include a check for any underlying eye conditions, as well as broader conditions, such as high blood pressure.

It's important that you tell your Optometrist about your general health and any medication you may be taking. That's because certain medical conditions and prescription drugs can affect your vision. We'll also ask about any family-related health problems, such as diabetes.

When the eye test is completed, your Optometrist will go through the results with you. This will include a discussion about your eye health and whether you need corrective lenses or, if you already wear glasses, a change of prescription. Of course, they'll also answer any questions you have related to your vision

Haven't eye tests always been free
Are vision express any good? Not going to pay for it with Specsavers again especially when they recommend I start wearing glasses because of my age not my eyesight!

If your mother or father have a pre existing eye condition then you get a free eye test on the NHS which for early detection and possible prevention makes sense.

The condition is glaucoma, not just any pre existing eye condition. Also applies of brother/sister/child has glaucoma AND you are over 40 years old.

Cool
Doesn't mention having to buy prescription frame like with Specsavers free test.
Love the free coffee machine at vision express while you wait. I even go in early to my appointment because I'm a sucker for freebies.
Used this Monday they were very good and very knowledgeable. All the latest equipment etc and no hard sell for glasses, although I didn't need any

Vision express are excellent. Highly recommend their thorough service and knowledge.
When you start negotiating the price for your lens they normally swipe off the test fees. But this is a good deal, I guess many “HUKDealers” would take the report and order online for something not so designer but designer looking.

Specsavers have permanent free eye tests... Just go on their website and they have a voucher you can use, it's always available.

I thought the expression was "if my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle."

I said I was going to be spending 250.00 on glasses....thry are just for work so I dont damage my nice glasses. They stuck to 10.00 even after I said other stores were free. Cancelled and went to the Woodley reading branch who were excellent. The guy their had similar lindberg glasses as me lol.

Do they give a paper copy of the results? And do they give all the info to order glasses online?

They're run as franchises so they make it up on the spot. Used to go to the Camberley branch which is near.

You don't have to buy after. Just ask for your prescription, then buy glasses online or at Asda, where it's much cheaper
Thank you
Lots of these based in Tesco stores nowadays.

Hmm you do get paper results with details of if you’re single vision etc. Along with the strength you need to correct your vision.

Just double check online to see what they require and when you’re there. Get all the info.
With noting if you have a history of glaucoma in your family eye tests are always free for you .

I wish they were including the PD in the results, but it seems I am asking for too much being this free;)
You'll need a free eyesight test as the price of their glasses are ridiculous!
No appointments available at my local for at least the next 4 months.
Good - just a warning to be aware of, with the Vision Express free eye tests they're then quite pushy in trying to sell you sunglasses etc.
Ta

You used to get a quid cludcard points

1) You pay taxes for it so only seems free because you paid in advance.
2) It's also not available if you've had one within the last two years.

Just don’t buy your glasses in there, get them online for half the price

The quality of asda lenses and frames is shockingly bad.

This is incorrect as applies to only certain stores - I was also called in advance and told only free if I buy glasses on the day.... told them to shove it
