Voted HOT, dont know their business model but compared to the 80s and 90s getting a pair of prescription specs can be very cheap now.
Free when you buy a complete set of prescription glasses

I recently had a free eye test at Vision Express just for booking online - worth bearing in mind in case it’s still on offer.
can't get it where i live even got SS in my town but down come up....the ones that do are about 5miles away.
Our local store is truly awful. Thankfully we dont go in there anymore but it was like the blind leading the blind (no pun intended). Orders were always wrong, appointments wrong, prescriptions wrong.

Free if you live in a country within the UK that doesn't vote tory.
My wife got her eye test free at Specsavers last weekend and we didn't even know the offer was on. After her test she approached an assistant saying she hadn't paid yet, he handed her the prescription and said it's free. We didn't buy any glasses.

Don't you need to have the eye test first before you actually buy a pair of glasses :/
Just to add my 2 pence, staff are taught to word any prescription changes to sound significant. They care more for glasses than eye health and their biggest targets are over 60 year olds. They have performance reports and % to see how many tests were converted to sales. And theyre told to NOT say "small change" a sight test in 5 minutes is compromising your eye health and opticians are bullied into testing quick. Take this from someone who has friends and family in their company and they despise them.

Good to know, thanks. I think I'll use my local optician.

Should have gone to specsavers
Just to point out to people who are confused. The eye test is completely free at some branches. Some require a purchase of glasses. I checked my local specsavers and they required a purchase, so I chose a store only 0.4 miles further away and it was completely free with no purchase required. You may get lucky if you click on your 2nd or 3rd closest specsavers if your local one requires a purchase.
I just booked two appointments on monday for my mother and I so that's a hot from me!

T&C from the offer page:

Yup, mine was completely free and I didn't buy anything. Just phone the store and check.
