The link is fine, but looks odd as it has session ID in there once you've clicked through.

What is the quality like on the downloads from Lovefilm?

Anyone else having difficulties getting the lovefilm download manager to work?

There in the download section as free downloads i believe its been there a while ......not intrested myself as there alll rubbish or old fims ive seen already.

Hardly makes up for the postal delay , they should give us free time on our subscription for the time we cant get our dvds

Most of the free downloads are ****... they have Driving Lessons on there though, that's ok.

Hey, they're free - what more do you want?

where ?

Hmmm. Why do we need to install their software? Is it spyware?

Very much doubt its Spyware......seems to much hassle to go through though just to download some old movies you have most likely seen already

Do the downloads expire after a certain date?

A-n-d-y

You can tell them how much you've missed out on here:

]https//ww…tml

They claim that they will make every effort to replace all the discs you feel you have missed, but sometimes this may not be possible...

A bit off topic but with almost every ISP in this country now implementing download quotas, watching movies from an online source will be difficult.

the download manager is crashing, updateing my media player 11 hopeing that will fix it

then gona download all 49 films and rip the drm out

I tried the free downloads early this year. I tried downloading a couple of things at once. The download manager was a a pain although it managed to finish the feature film (the Cooler, which I had already seen), it got stuck with a short and then told me I had already downloaded if I tried again.

I had difficulty watching beyond the adverts in the film (or it may have been seeking within the film that caused me problems, I forget) and by the time I went back to the computer to try again it had expired.

It didn't seem worth the time for me and certainly wouldn't convince me to pay extra for the privilege from them in the future. Mind you, I seldom use Windows Media Player (or Windows) so am less used to what may be its expected foibles.

Decided to look for the short film and found that many of the featured short films are also available via ]The Film Network at the BBC site so you can use Windows Media Player or Real Player.

Do these films require a licence then that expires after a certain time - wondered how they got round copyright

Quids

Then it's not a deal then is it, lol.

big juan

where ?

It's the first download.

i never managed to get that to work on my PC, probably vista's fault but whats the point when ou can add the film to your rental queue.

Nice one thanks, I keep meaning to get Jason and the Argonauts as I haven't seen it in yearsss, so this is perfect as it (along with Sinbad) is the only one on the list that interested me. I didn't have any trouble either, sign-up and installation of download manager took no time at all and the film itself in 'super-high quality' only took another 30 odd minutes which surprised me as it was over 1gb.

So does anybody know if the license to play these will run out after the deal deadline?

EDIT: For those also wondering about my question there, here is the answer;

You have up to 7 days to begin playback of your downloaded movie. After … You have up to 7 days to begin playback of your downloaded movie. After your first playback, you may watch it as many times as you like within a 24 hour period.

I wonder if they are making more money this week thanks to the strike? I bet they are ;-)

if you have vista, this wont work - i tried it a while back as ive never seen the cooler and wanted to, but vista wouldnt let it work.

it seems all 49 arnt free alot are showing as £3.49

i will post a list of the ones showing free when you actually download them
once i que them all

The downloads are DRMed to the hilt, you only have a certain amount of time to watch them before they self-destruct. And you can't burn them to DVD to watch on your TV, or sync it with your iPod or Zune.

Pic quality is not bad at all, I downloaded a few of their movies a couple of months back and stripped the restrictive DRM using fairuse4wm.

not worth the time or effort with these bunch of cowboys... tried a trial for 3 months and the dics are scratched or never arrive... then they say you have to pay pay £25 or fill in a form, which never arrived... good thing i cancelled my cc after joining...

wouldnt suprise me the downloads have malware...

read the reviews below... rubbish

Whereas I am on my third three-month trial now, never had a problem with lost discs, only ever had one unplayable, and usually get 6 DVDs per week out of them.

harlzter, I'm not sure, but lots of people are having problems with the downloader and Vista. I need to do more testing, tonight I shall see if I can run it under the XP mode. Normally I just get error message after error message. (.Net errors)
I have found LoveFilm good so far with no real problems, they are a little slow at times, and they use 'fair-play' software so I don't always get the films I really want. But they are a rental company and you have to expect the odd scratched disk now and again ;-)
IMHO I do think Blockbusters are better though.

It also worked no problem on Vista for me too.
