Also, once you are a customer, refer a friend and you both get £25 bill credit!40928907-xUoOS.jpg
I wouldn’t touch Tonik with a barge pole. They didn’t give me a statement between January and April as they had “temporary billing problems”. Check trustpilot and Twitter before committing to anything with them, thousands in the same position as I was. Now moved to octopus and very happy with them.
I am with utility point and everytime i compare them with others they are usually cheap and hence unable to transfer waiting for a better deal
Avro energy for me.
Good customer service and warm home discount.
Do not force you into Smart Meters.

I saw the TrustPilot reviews but also on Which were they were given a decent enough review

"Tonik Energy is included in our results for the second year and seems to be reasonably well-liked by its customers. It didn’t rank as highly as last year though, when it finished in joint fourth.

It still ranks well above the traditional biggest big energy firms though, although slightly below newcomer giant Ovo Energy"

I presume with Gas and Electric supply, on the most part for most people, it runs pretty smoothly and you can just lay your bill and forget about it. Usually very little interaction with the customer service team so probably not many opportunities to get great feedback because of that, you usually only speak to them if there's a problem - which results in a negative review.

I'm sorry that you weren't happy with them, but hopefully most people have no problems with them

The which survey was done in September 2019. Obviously each to their own but stay away is my opinion for what it’s worth. Their entire billing platform fell down in January 2020 without as much as an apology to customers to the point where I was so frustrated being told “it’ll be fixed soon” for four months that I left. Anyone who switches to them... you were warned
Don't believe it. They don't even answer your support calls.

Seconded I'm with them for Electricity (Econ 7) and Bristol Energy for the Gas
I moved from SO to Tonik in March as Tonik was cheaper and had good reviews at the time. Since then Tonik's reviews seem to have plummeted and Money Savings Expert has posted an advisory note on its Cheap Energy website to that effect. No statements available and I'm thinking about moving to another supplier in spite of the £60 penalty.

Another shout for Avro. Just renewed for the third time with them. Cheap energy AND no financial get out clause if you find something cheaper
A free boiler service and cashback is very good, switched electric recently and slightly regretting the dual fuel cashback like this, couldn't give a toss about reviews as it's the same gas that comes out the pipe just less expensive.

Been with Tonik, don't have anything bad to say as far as I remember but again the reviews plummeted after I left.

Think the only concern is not paying and getting a big bill at the end.

Either way, this is currently the best gas deal available with cashback but mine doesn't end till August. It's been downvoted due to reviews but if you want decent customer service and cheapest price.. sometimes it's cheaper because of their bad customer service, question is are you willing to pay more for that? I'm not.

Totally agree. Avro even had new customers refused by the energy ombudsman for some reason. I wasn't bothered. At the end of the day I'd been having, and still having cheap energy and a reliable way of paying for the energy I used for ages. I was only interested in how they were performing for me, not other reviewers. It's all been good, hence the renewals for the last three years.

I had a problem around 5 months ago. Ive emailed, called, requested call backs, absolutely nothing. In the end I cancelled my direct debit and they still didn’t get in contact. Recently switched providers, absolutely appalling customer service.

I work for a call center, never agree to call backs. But yeah, just out of interest why was there a need to call them. I don't see the point unless your renewal is due and you are trying to get a good deal to stay on.
I’ve been with Tonik for a few years. No major issues I can think of. I didn’t do my research this year in to the renewal but I will do so next year. The FT regularly list Octopus as the cheapest energy provider so I may give them a go next time. I’ll look in to Avro as well.

I have both works out cheaper as wanted to stay with outfox for gas and YE for electric but when I done a quote for both there unit prices where cheaper then outfox, unlike outfox who charge different prices in seasonal periods YE is fixed

My dd payment was off because there was a problem with one of the readings. They were looking into it but they said it was a 6-8 week process and they never got in touch, even after 20 weeks.
avoid this company like the plague, reviews are often deleted. took me 3 months to get a final bill upon leaving, which was then incorrect. Customer service regularly ignore and lie to you. I thankfully left and ombudsman sorted the rest, but a hassle you don't want to have. maybe cheap but it'll come back and bite you. Look at the 1 star reviews on Trustpilot, don't fall for the 5 stars that just say "Yay, i joined" as that give nil info
My concern is they go bust and take my credit balance with them. Tonik Energy had accumulated losses of £25m on their last published accounts and CS was heading the wrong way before lockdown. My switch back to SO Enegy is now in progress.

me too, 2 yrs running but variable one now
Agree with others on the post. Avoid like the plague, they couldn’t even setup my online account within the 3 months I was with them.
I would be suspicious that a 'free' boiler service could be an opportunity for a gassafe engineer who is not being totally scrupulous and has taken on servicing jobs at minimal margin resold from tonik might be tempted to condemn a boiler for additional follow on work where they make more money.

A free boiler service is not something I would be tempted to buy into as you can be left with no heat, YMMV.
Terrible company. They've been 'updating' their computer system for a least six months, and have been unable to calculate bills for as long. I've been with them twice, first time they were great but they seem to have grown to quickly and second delay one round that have been abysmal.

Currently switching to British gas, Tonik account showing over £800 in credit, yet they haven't done a calculation this year despite multiple requests. They also doubled my monthly direct debit a couple of months ago for no reason, I called them and they cancelled the increase after the first payment stating that it was a technical error.

Beat avoided.

You are right.
I went with 24/7 homerescue for boiler cover as came with free service.
They came and found the boiler to be unfit and needs £500+ in repairs.
Or will be shut of by their Gas engineer right now.
I made a call to them right away and asked why my gas safe cert issued 20 hours before said boiler was in perfect working condition.
Thus safe to allow the house to be rented out.
The look on the engineers face and the coughing and spluttering on the phone.
I reported them to gas safe and the ombudsman,
Worked out quite well as the gave me £500 so it did not go to court.

switch went ok and first payment taken

I had a over estimate for my gas meter from December to April. I sent a email to them however no reply. So I called them and luckily I only waited 20 mins and the problem solved. I used Bristol Energy before, their customer service is brilliant and the statements are very clear. If I can’t find other better energy company I will use BE again.
I just switched to Octopus Energy as they seem to get good reviews and also got £50 for being referred to by a friend. Early day yet but so far so good.

In the back of my mind Bristol Energy are run by the council so regardless of its political composition I feel more comfortable than dealing with online chancers and racketeers

Just switching away from them. My advice is Keep an suspicious eye on readings and billing. Make sure you match the reading date with when required... Glad to be away from them, even when tempted with freebies.

Luckily my boiler is new and still under manufacturers warranty - so presumably if they condemn it or say there's issues my first port of call will be the manufacturer who will either fix it or presumably show me the problems found by the free service are false.

We always use the same plumbers who I trust implicitly so not 100% sure if I'll use the free service - however, it's still worthwhile switching for the cashback and the cheaper bills!
Switching from Tonik back to SO Energy now in progress even though a few quid more each month. Don't expect it to go smoothly as Tonik seems unable to produce a basic statement. At least it'll put a cap on how much I can lose if they go t1ts up. Also gas servicing is not one of the things in life you should be trusting to the cheapest contractor.

Didn't realise it's got that bad, common patterns where the faults started and introducing new software which now requires manual intervention.

Yes, odd they would try and get new customers and not fix the current issues, talk about a red flag.

As expected all sorts of hassle from Tonik following switch. Tonik insisting they are still my electricity supplier in spite of new supplier So Energy) having taken over the supply, as confirmed by main network provider (SSEN) and the national database. Tonik wants me to reinstate the DD so they can carry on taking payments! Aye, right! Not convinced I'll ever see my credit balance.
