NHS FRONTLINE STAFF ONLY: Free Gillette razor

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Update 1
Please note, this offer is specifically for those on the front line who need to shave, and we ask that you do not request a razor if you are not in this group - please do not abuse the offer as it will lead to people who actually need it missing out.

All entries without an NHS email will be rejected.

Let us start by saying thank you for the work you, and your teams are continuing to do to help us all fight the spread of the COVID-19 here in the UK.

We are aware that, as a result of the outbreak, UK ambulance service staff in patient facing roles around the country are being asked to consider shaving facial hair to ensure respirator masks fit tightly against the face.

If you are choosing to do this, we wanted to do our small part to support you. We are therefore offering a razor to all front-line staff who are choosing to shave.

Shop workers aren't being advised to wear face masks, NHS workers who are attending to confirmed cases of covid-19 have to wear them, hence the offer.

A face mask is next to useless unless it's been fit tested and worn properly, and are only good for single use, so if everyone wanted to wear a mask every time they went out or went to work, then there would be a national shortage, even worse than there is now, and the people that are most at risk already, ie the people dealing with confirmed patients would be at an even greater risk.

Then you have a shortage of NHS workers as they are all off sick and the problem self perpetuates

Every time there is a free post for NHS, there is a post that pops up asking why just them...
NHS staff ain’t dealing with people who may have Covid19, we are dealing with people who have confirmed Covid19. I think I can speak for every member of the NHS when I say we don’t want to go to these people, we have to go to these people.
The NHS is the one organisation that is there for everyone when they have a problem. I work right on the front line in the big yellow buses, almost every job now has the additional text of suspected Covid19. I have attended jobs without any details and entered a property without protection and a colleague has confirmed symptoms after dealing with a patient.

So please, less of the bashing. We don’t want companies to offer us freebies for what we are doing, we would just like appreciation from the people who may need us for whatever reason, because that’s what we are here for.

What a silly comment, we need to keep our trained NHS as well as we can. With respect, anybody can work in a shop
Please only claim if you need to shave in order to wear a protective face mask, let's make sure they go to the people that need them most

You will need an NHS email address to claim

What an even sillier comment. Really stupid and condescending too. Shop staff are there for people like you who are panic buying and trying to quell their fears. Just as worthy as NHS staff, so keep your stupid unjustified comments to yourself in future.

Thank you for understanding.
Lovely, hopefully a shiny new razor on it's way.
Wow. Are you for real ? We have coughing customers who could or could not have covid 19 coming in shopping. They still come shopping regardless of their condition and covid 19 does not kill everyone.

Another comment you should have given some thought to before posting.

They get just as good advertisement from saying just NHS as they would if they say all key workers.
Thanks OP!
This is what we like to see
Just to clarify since some people think this is a random freebie. Frontline NHS staff with facial hair are being asked to shave it all off so they can effectively wear facemasks. As many with facial hair probably don't own a shaver, these are clearly being offered on the basis that you don't have to go hunting for them yourself and that you don't have to pay out for something you wouldn't ordinarily buy.

because shop worker can be replaced by self check out and while I agree once in a while you have to deal with some arrogant customer
meanwhile a nurse/doctor/hca does not have any alternatives... if a patient IS diagnosed with covid19 (s)he MUST look after that patient no matter what.

so my advice.... get a bloody grip think twice and consider what you do vs what the nhs does

They have a population of over 60 million. In this time how many people have died of other diseases and the whole world has not ground to a halt. Not saying it is not a serious disease but the panic is a bit over the top.
Watching people die
Helping people get better risking illness
Losing staff to illness with relentless workload in upsetting circumdstances the stress of it all
... to name a few points over WHY

I take it if your family member got.sick with covid and there was no beds, no ventilator no doctors this comment wouldnt exist.

They may come in coughing but shop workers (who are very important) have some control over distancing. Some NHS workers do not. Masks are in short supply, the correct grade of masks are not readily available and this is worrying when you are inches from a patient trying to intubate them, suction them and perform CPR.
Nearly everyone who works is an important worker otherwise their job role wouldn’t exist.
I think we are still weeks away from the worst, Covid-19 does not kill everyone but it does kill.
NHS workers are having a lot asked of them in worrying times. These kind of offers may be marketing gimmicks, but some of the offers are a welcome distraction from the endless shifts of doom and gloom.

The vast majority of people who have COVID-19 will not go to an NHS site, the vast majority WILL go the supermarket etc. I'll bet the average person working on a till in a supermarket is interacting with 10x as many COVID19 carriers than the average frontline NHS staff member. It's interesting to note that you think that most NHS staff don't WANT to help the dying, yet somehow are more deserving of freebies than the people who make, distribute, or stock critical products. I know plenty of people who are coming to work in a food factory who could easily self-isolate for their own safety but are there because they WANT to do their bit to keep the country from starving.

Like you I'm fed up; but I'm fed up with the people who are denigrating and dismissing the dedicated individuals doing vital work as though everyone who works in the NHS is a saint and retail workers etc are cretins unworthy of consideration.

Still voted the deal hot because in this case the freebie makes a lot of sense; sadly those dealing with COVID carriers who aren't in the NHS won't get masks to protect them anyway...
Ordered. Thanks very much for the heads up on this.
Voted hot as any help for NHS staff at the moment is great. No goo for me though as I don't work for the NHS and I'm a toxic male.

Read my post carefully. Yes, we don’t want to go to people with Covid19 much like we would not want to come into contact with any person who has a potentially easily transmitted infection. We have families that we do not want to bring the infection home to.
The vast majority of people with this virus are not dying. It seems you like to twist what I have said so I am going to leave it there.
