How can i get a nus card ive registered myself for course

Bear in mind that even though the site says these courses are free, your employment status may affect your eligibility for funding.

Excellent info... thanks

Not applying for another, put me off last time because they want £250 if you don't pass. Sod that!

I've done 3 of these courses (I'm employed and not on any benefits etc.) and they were really good. I've received proper certificates too. They are always free even if you are employed. Once you register, you get a enrolment pack in the post and questions about if you have a job and if you have other level 2 qualifications but always free (not quite sure why they ask!!). If you have any questions, ask away! I didn't know I could get an NUS card though so might have to sign up for another one!

Tried it for nutrition and health.
Anyone else had it work for that? Tried three post codes around the country (all ones I legitimately may be at depending on contracting work) and didn't work for any.

They ask because they get funding through a different funding programme depending on the student's employment status.

Where are you based as this is for England only? Also it may be that you need to wait for a new cohort to be allowed to be enrolled. This happened to me and they contacted me within a few weeks as a new cohort started so I could then begin the course. They need there to be places with your funding requirements before you start.

Postcodes used were Kent, Reading and West Yorkshire.
Didn't seem to "take" my details at all, but they may have done, of course.

Thanks i did not get IT which i wanted but then i applies for admin and they accepted me.

It will give me something to do.

I had a look at NUS cards and for obvious reasons they are delivered to your college direct. So if you are distance learning what are the chances of it getting to your home address????? Especially as you have to pay for the card.

They will post to your home address. I studied with the Open University and each time I applied for my NUS card they posted it to my home address.

@rickyc88
Thanks for that. I thought I read on a comment somewhere that someone doing the Vision2Learn courses had received a free card.

Ah, fair enough - was only going by what it said on their website. I guess there may be a small fraction that are ineligible, or perhaps, as posted above, it's more about location - no funded places available in certain locations or whatever.

Does anyone know if there is something similar in scotland?

Yeah it's called free university with no tuition fees, some may argue it's more value than a level 2 distance learning course.

Yeah maybe I should move to Scotland for uni

The Job center sent me on a "Can you turn a computer on" course... Can't remember if it's level one or two...

The last vision2learn tutor I was assigned, was rude and obnoxious, they refused to enrol me until I completed the introductory course, how they wanted it to be completed.

In other words, if you don't learn in the way that the tutor teaches the course, you will not complete the course.

Thank you OP I chose the Customer Service one & it went through without a problem, they are sending me the details in the post. Will do some others if it is any good!

The introductory is probably in either their rules or funding.
If you went to a college and refused to attend enrollment do you think they would be any different?

Maybe they should've sent you on a "remember numbers 1-10 course"
Some people don't have basic computer skills, and if they sent you on it, it's because you likely don't have a formal IT qualification, so at the end of the day it may help you get a job.

stupid how you have to be 19+ it's not fair, some people in the same year group are only 18 whilst some are 19 depending on late birthdays

I'll tell you what's not fair, calling yourself penispepper while the rest of us have to have sedate usernames isn't fair!

What courses and how do I join

Signed up for the business and administration one, live in Cornwall if it's any use to others applying.

Should help to fill a gap in the old cv showing I've done something after a motorbike accident....

I remember when I was unable to _buy_ as I was a student.

If you are already in some form of education that has any subsidy from the government your ineligible until you have finished it.

I did not refuse, I completed it 4 times and they still did not accept it.

Signed up for a course and went to NUS website to get my card renewed.

However, Vision2learn is not listed as one of their accepted places of study. Is it called something else?

Nothing level 2 Wales
