Free Gridlee Arcade game for iOS (with sneaky full Mame4All Emulator ROM sidloading) @ iTunes

Looks like this free iOS game has a very sneaky method to load other Mame arcade ROMS according to touch arcade.

A guide on how to install ROMS is in post 2 below. hotukdeals.com/fre…031

When word of this hit our forums, readers were quick to pull out iExplore (iFunBox also works [Free]) and begin digging about the app's directory structure looking for a ROM folder. Well, it's in there, and sure enough, if one copies other MAME ROMs into that folder, the Gridlee app starts up with the standard MAME4iOS ROM listing, allowing for a great many games beyond just Gridlee to be played on the iPhone or iPad in this Universal app.

Some will recall iMAME landing in the app store -- briefly -- back in late 2011. iMAME came with a small bundle of obscure little games, but allowed additional ROMs moved into its app folder to be played through the app...and Apple pulled it a couple of days later. At the heart of Gridlee sits MAME4iOS v1.3 (MAME 0.139u1), which is much more advanced and feature-rich than the version of iMAME4ALL that powered iMAME. The MAME4iOS settings include advanced visual filters to enhance games' renderings, support for MAME cheats, and support for external controllers such as the iCade, among other features.

For anyone into emulation and want to emulate arcade games on their iOS devices, this may be worth looking in to since Mame4All has been ousted from the app store!

Here is a quick guide on how to get additional files onto your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad to play other games.

1. Install Gridlee. Run it at least once.

2. download and install iFunbox - i-funbox.com/ - this is free.

3. Open iFunbox and do the following.

4. Copy and paste ROM zip files in the roms folder (/Gridlee/Documents/roms)

5. Eject your iThing, fire up gridlee and behold your new choice of games!

Install iFunbox on the PC!
You can also use iExplorer on the PC to put ROMS onto the device. I struggle finding the ROMS though, found space invaders and pacman but not all seem to work with iMame.

thanks will give it a try later i have 100's of mame roms for my pc.
all working fab jake the snake roberts just won the royal rumble yeehaw
Does this thing need .bin files? I've loaded roms into the rom folder, disconnected the ipod touch, go into Gridlee... it launches as normal! No access to the roms. Any idea why this might be?

EDIT: The iPod Touch needed rebooting. Now when I go into Gridlee, Mame opens. Sorted.

EDIT 2: It seems the iPod needs rebooting after every install of new rom/roms. I'd advise you to stick a few on, reboot it and try it other wise you'll be constantly having to turn it on and off to see if the new rom you've loaded works.

When you fire MAME4iOS up just move the joystick down to highlight "Reload ROMs" and press the top button.

Rather than reloading the iPod you could also go back to the home (iPod) screen, double press the home button, then press and hold "Gridlee" to make it wiggle, and hit the "x" button to kill the task.
