Free Home DNA Testing Collection Kit

Click to recieve a free home collection kit in the post

The home collection kit contains DNA testing information, brochures and swabs, so you can collect DNA samples and send them in for testing, quickly and easily. The home collection kit was created by DNA SOLUTIONS in 1997. Today we test 19 or 23 regions of DNA in each person, making our tests extraordinarily more accurate.

i may be asking a stupid question coz i dont know a lot about the home testing kits ... but trying to get my head around the fact that a kit costs £200+ and u can request it for free?

("The kit contains swabs for sample collection, full instructions and further details about DNA testing with DNA SOLUTIONS. The kit is sent to you without obligation").

Side FX
also note that there could be small side effects with pre-natal paternity tests. Child samples are conducted by health professionals.

Delivery Time
had a look at the "buy now" option to find out what the diff is, between the free kit and the one you buy.
normal testing time £0
9 day express £89
5 day £189

(does this mean it's at least 1.5 weeks delivery is normal time)

also i assume the samples have to be sent back to the company for profiling results, thus opening up the possibility of the info being maintained at a national database? or that you need to pay more for the last bit of the test ie the results?

Testing Unusual Samples
"Testing unusual samples costs only £75 more than the cost of a full paternity test.

Unusual samples commonly used:
- A used toothbrush.
- Nasal discharge (i.e. a snotty tissue).
- Ear wax on a cotton bud (used to clean the ear).
- A used band-aid.
To ensure the sample is well preserved, place into a labelled envelope. This allows the sample to dry completely and gives us the optimal chance to extract workable DNA.
We obtain DNA from toothbrushes in around 90% of cases, and from ear-cotton buds in 99% of cases.
In the unlikely event that we fail to obtain DNA from your unusual sample, we will refund you the full cost of the test, minus the £75 unusual sample fee, if you cannot send us further samples to test.

hehe - thinking what uses ...

the site isnt very clear on them. there's a chat online with someone link there but unavailable so i'm guessing u can ask them there if not sure.

not that i am going to do any dna testing but i am fascinated how this science is used for normal people (not just CSI or crime-related)

hehehehe - wouldnt it be better (more mileage) to get the paternity tests done for free on Trisha lol. name and shame

My ex had to get a dna testing kit, he got it online and it took over 6 weeks to get the results back...and now, do you wonder why he is my ex!!!

why did he? was he contesting whose kid it was?

ermm well he was with me at the time kippy...i had suspicions about him and he was being a complete noob with me. I hacked into his emails and found an email from someone saying she was pregnant and she didn't know if it was his or her bf's
he was was kicked out soon after lol

oic .. she is in same boat as him then lol.

yeah, good riddance. shed the baggage hehehehe.

all dna testing kits are free on every online site, you only pay for the results, so really whats the point of a free testing kit if you cant get any results unless you pay.

I heard that 1 in 6 Dads aren't the real father (sounds a bit high to me but that's what I heard)
If l ever had a kid I'd want to know for sure it was mine before investing a lifetime of commitment in the child

funniest thing is that both suspects are suposed to have had tests and both are negative. hes a looser because he lost me!

i'd say .. take precautions if you're not planning to sow your seeds ... lol

monkey dna is similar to human dna

its also close to the DNA of a cabbage

I don't trust giving anyone my DNA, no idea what they are going to do with it...and when you consider what they COULD do with it, then it's too scary for me.

I'll swab the dog, thats sure to confuse them for a day or two..

well they do have bird sexing kits lol.

I've done a lot on paternity in my MSc and just wanted to make sure no one thought these websites were a good idea. To start with:

There are only 6 labs in the UK recognised by the government to carry out paternity testing - the hundreds found on google after a search for 'DNA test' have had no checks on them at all.
It is illegal to hold samples for DNA testing without informed consent - their discrete testing worries me and sounds completely illegal.
As far as I know it is not possible to accurately confirm a man is the father without having the mother checked too, only to rule him out as a possibility - another very dodgy claim

As for swabbing the dog - afraid its human specific so just wouldnt work at all !!!
Anyway, there are more problems I could find but as most people don't know much about this topic I thought it was important to mention these things. Just don't fall for it!
If anyone is interested I can direct you to the accredited labs, which are safe to use.
Sorry for the long message!

lol re: dna sexed ... i hope the parrots know themselves which sex ... or is the info not needed? very interesting re: birds

i once had a friend in uni who declared herself asexual. i keep wondering whether she means she is not into sex or just indifferent.

odd isnt it,think the birds know which sex they are themselves as more often that not male birds prefer women and female birds men
