I hope people don't take advantage of this. My local Waitrose is full of 'common' people just visiting to get their free coffee. I can't imagine these kind of people in John Lewis, they would seriously lower the tone with their unwashed clothes and dialect.

One has a limited budget like everyone else. I seek discounts on the finer things in life.

I went to JL in Aberdeen a couple of months ago and had a "free" hot chocolate and a cake - the hot chocolate was tepid and watery, the cake was dry as dust. When I quietly mentioned it to the member of staff she just shrugged her shoulders and turned away.

Maybe I was just unlucky but I would not rush back even if it was "free".
Does anyone know if this can be used with the paper voucher they send in the post? Thanks

Surely the cafes are outsourced to another company. Can't see them being part of the partnership business; and would make sense why the products are generally quite rubbish.

However; can't really complain its free. Southampton one has alright views at the top as well.

Not tried it myself but make use of 1 and then go for seconds or treat a family member/friend to drink and cake.

I hold my head high so don’t notice people laughing at me
Well, you know what they say “if you want to feel good about yourself go shopping at ASDA.”
do i have to dress up to go to john lewis? is the cafe a shirt and tie affair?
Does anyone have the link for the iPhone app. I can’t seem to find
Will they give two cakes if I refused the coffee? If so, that could be my dessert for lunch and dinner tomorrow.

Kindest regards

Yes, it's a black-tie dress code, similar to what you'd be expected to wear at Aldi...

Kindest regards

No they can't, I've been using this for a while and the paper voucher is the same as the app one. If you use the paper one, the voucher in the app disappears and both codes are the same anyway.

The Place To Eat is okay (hot chocolate is from a machine and tastes like McDonalds/Greggs, cakes are fairly nice). It's not great enough that it's worth making 100s of accounts for though, just worth going in once in a while every time you get the voucher. Costa/Starbucks/Nero is far better IMO, I'd place (pun not intended) The Place To Eat on par with Debenhams Restaurant or a McCafé with better atmosphere (and yes, I did just compare McDonald's with John Lewis @samani).

If John Lewis are sending the vouchers to genuine, registered members, those members are perfectly entitled to redeem it. The same way, I could just as easily shake my head in disgust at you for the way you are degrading other human beings in order to boost your ego and sense of self superiority.

Guess what, you aren't above those people claiming the freebies. Sure, if people create 100s of accounts and visit John Lewis every day just to claim the freebie your attitude would be vaguely understandable, but most people don't do that.
It seems to swap you from paperbased vouchers to digital as it says "welcome to your digital rewards you're now paperless". And it shows all my previously received tea and cake vouchers, plus a new one till 30 oct. Not sure if this is an extra one tho or one I already had on paper! But at least I won't keep losing them now if this is a replacement.
