Hideous, overpriced, and limited battery make this seem like it was made for 2017. shame.
BTW, the design of the xl, have they taken cues from the 2 xl? Jeez it's like a throwback from the 2 xl launch.

No ultrawide and the small battery completely rules me out, telephoto or not

I know, I miss the Nexus days. The best value phone I've ever had was probably the Nexus 5. Great price, top specs mediocre camera. Now it seems like all google care about is a great camera and an expensive price tag. I can't see me switching from the Note 10+ any time soon. The only shortcomings I could find where no headphone jack and I miss the ir blaster from the view 20.

Sony flagships still sporting bezels, and not worse for it, full of goodness, glad they're no longer alone - otherwise all phones would look the same, some diversity is welcome.

(That said, no bezel-friend here - I don't think I COULD own a Pixel 2)

Couldn't agree more. What a daft decision.

Exactly it's what the thing does , it will be butter smooth, with the best camera available and full Google support.
If anyone said to me your smartphone looks horrible looking, look at mine my screen is an extra 1/2 mm to the edge....well I can't repeat what I would say about that

Why not, if I'm throwing £670 - £870 on a phone, I want it to look good. Clearly you don't care, be happy

I choose my phone based on everything, I have the mate 20 x which does everything brilliantly I want it to do, it's butter smooth, and a good looking phone at the same time, that's my opinion, and you are most definitely different.

I saw an explanation of the camera choice in this review...scoot to 5:25 . I'm not sure if I fully understand it still. Anyway, in think the camera could actually be quite good BUT the size of the battery is a concern

I have the feeling this is monster on the inside, modest, even backward-looking on outside but innovative, performance beast, pushing tech boundaries on internals - we'll see what experts think
The battery on the 4 XL is 3700 mAh, the same as the 3a XL and that battery is great, I don't get the complaints then about the battery size, unless the faster processor will make it take a hit

I couldn't agree more, camera will be amazing of which I have no doubt, but for me, coming from an mate 20 x, I just couldn't go down to a 3700mAh battery, whether it's a Google phone or not.

The battery on the mi 9t standard is better than the mi 9t pro, all because of the processor, so at a guess, the 4 xl will be worse.

Haha, baseball boy, here I come
Samsung still king of Android, Galaxy and Note lines, have all fan favourites 3.5mm headphone jack, micro sd card up to 1TB, no notch, bigger batterys.
I am fully invested in the Google eco system with hubs, smoke alarms, doorbells, wifi routers, would just love them to make a smartphone and smart watch that ooze that same premium quality.
With the Pixel 4 launch definitely not seeing that here, if anything its a step back, shame really, the only real contender Samsung had was Huawei for the Android crown, but Trump n his troops have put a stop to that.
Looks like it's the next galaxy for me.

Please check Laptops Direct before ordering any Chromebook. I got a cracking deal on one for £200. I'll see if I can find the link...

Storage options are also a next level farce.

What were you hoping to store?
I noticed they have dropped the Original quality backup's on photos as well, it's only high quality now on the 4 XL.
They are giving 3 months free Google one storage though, but I already have that so.

3.5mm jack, expandable storage on way out...Note 10 line I believe

I found Pixel 2xl pretty premium, next to a Huawei Mate 10 Pro...that was late 2017

If this looks bad, think of iPhone 11 Pro rear... now it looks better
