The irony of such a test when a significantly high number of 'natives' wouldn't pass. But I digress, hot
It's a wonderful thing, education. You want people to know about learning to speak English, so you use an acronym to name a course. Sheer genius.

Invaluable resource! Even if you're native speaker, you need to understand the test. Worked really well for me.
Good preparation for the IELTS English Language test for applicants to UK universities or other taught English Language degrees for whom English is not their first language.
Looking for a2 courses if there are any for free, the exam I know you'll have to pay for. Any help or advice appreciated

Ignorance is bliss
An acronym which is then spelt incorrectly four times in the OP. Consistent, if nothing else.

still bitter are we.. I’d make a snarky comment about Remainers but I don’t think it’s fair to talk badly about half the population at once

Never fails to amaze me , these courses or similar have always been available & rightly so yet always under subscribed & why would they not be when we still continue to insist on paying huge sums of tax payers ££££ to provide translators at inflated prices for NHS , courts, schools etc for anyone who claims they do not speak our language when basically they actually cannot be bothered to attend these courses
This course ought to be compulsory for better integration, ..especially useful to argue against righteous dumb folk with chips on shoulders, ..however, I can also agree at the necessity of this course where the out of control translation costs are involved, ..never mind common sense thinking with basic tech from hospitals, clinics et al.

My wife had this problem as a nursing manager in the NHS & simply used google translate & made some hasty "ask, want, need" cards for a foreign patient to use to get through the fundamentals ..because the various British & multinational nurses were either too feckless / dumb despite qualifications to spend 15 minutes organising this, ..invest in time to save time!

Yeah you are right, takes but a few hours to learn English. Imagine, you might then be able to construct a well presented sentence.

Funny how you mention terms like "OUR LANGUAGE" and "they"

When your great grandparents took over THEIR country did they bother to learn THEIR language or did THEY force English onto them?

Do you actually believe that? Because most people these days are literate, you occasionally meet older people that might not be able to read and/or write but it's pretty rare.

They would still be able to have a conversation with you though, which is better than one of my neighbours who has been here for 25 years and doesn't speak a word of English.

Looks like you need to do this course, maybe do a history course as well and see how long the independence movement was going on for in India. Definitely don't look into the infrastructure that was built and just how long they've been relying upon it.

It definitely isn't cool members of my family died in WW1 and WW2, just so their descendants could be demonised for something they had no involvement in. It's also a smart tactic, if you want to turn people against you, who would otherwise be indifferent.

The classic 'it weren't us guv' so don't blame us....Maybe don't demonise people in the current climate and try to understand what background they are from and situation they are in..... then you may realise why alot of THESE people may not speak YOUR English in YOUR country.

The fact that you are proud of your family who died in the War fighting for their freedom but refused to give it to others is a bit hypocritical don't you think? I'm sure India (and all the others) would have preferred not to have had the infrastructure and had been allowed to do as they please with their own resources. I'm sure the British didn't colonise them so they could spread their knowledge and improve other countries infrastructure.

Anyway feel free to spout more of your proud nonsense, I am moving on, can't be bothered to waste my energy any further on the likes, who put signs up in flats because they want to return the country to normality before it was infected by other people.

Contrast your opening line with any of the crimes we have happening right now (not generations ago), and the "they aren't all like that" response routinely given. The only one trying to demonise anyone here is you, I brought up WW1 because of your great-grandparents comment, and your slight on my direct ancestors.

Colonialism should not have happened, but it did, and you can't ignore what was spread around the world because of it. Maybe for the rest of the day consider all the scientific discoveries and inventions that made whatever you're doing possible, and consider who were behind the majority of them.

And what sign is that? The one in Manchester (iirc)? If that is the best you can do then jeez things really aren't that bad. On the other hand I've been directly racially abused (many times), assaulted because of my race, in the same city those I mention who died in WW1/WW2 were born.
The best deal ever. Thanks!

Bro, are you English?

If you are, I'd advise you to sign up for one of these courses. You *may* just learn how to construct a sentence
