Yes. As long as you use the Ikea family card while paying. Bought a big wall clock and the glass broke took it back and it was exchanged free of charge without any issues.
I would love to hear from anyone that has the oppurtunity to claim on this insurance and your story/experience endured/enjoyed

Put the wooden dowels into the top of a malm chest of drawers instead of the side panel, damaging the veneer. Took it back, told them “look I’ve been an idiot” and asked for a replacement. They fetched another top piece and that was that. Good service!
Just last week i was assembling the dombas and damaged 2 of the panels. Took it back to ikea and they replaced em. No questioned asked. Just showed the receipt and family card.

Does this apply to kitchens?
Ikea are pretty good with this, my misses takes stuff back up all the time, sometimes over a year old and seems to get a credit note for the full value.

Funnily enough I actually used this a couple of weekends ago. I bought a bookcase from Bristol IKEA and when I got it back, had a completely brain dead moment after a long day of travelling and damaged one of the shelves and the backboard. I was, as you can imagine, pretty annoyed with myself. However, I realised I’d used my family card so took it back to my local branch at Coventry. I explained the situation at the returns desk and after showing them the damage, they took it back and gave me a gift card to replace the bookcase, which I did that day. They did stress this was only the case because I’d scanned my card. Still, not bad I’d say and a happy missus.
Thanks, useful information 🏽
I got declined when I tried to claim

I stood on a piece and snapped it, rang up and told them and got a new one no questions had to go back to store but it was easy enough.
what about items in your house that get broken whilst putting your ikea furniture together, can you claim for that?
they're good and bad
i opened the box continaing a chest of drawers, and one piece was slightly damaged, took that once piece back, and they have me a new one straight away, no problem.

however, I've also assembled a wardrobe with sliding doors. was fine for a week or so, now somehitn has happened (Or someone has done something) and they have rotated, so don't slide proeprly all the way/close properly.

so contacted CS on websote, who suggested I see PAX team in store. Went to store, expecting someone to tell me how to fix it hoping it's a regualr problem, guy at CS looked at photos I took, and logged a call with the outourced repair team Eco Master to come and fix it!

that sounded better than I had hoped, but that was a couple of months ago, Ikea keep telling me to keep contacting that company, to find where I am in queue, but that company seem to be ignoring me I know the internet is full of moaning rather than praise, but there's not many ppl praising ecomaster
Our Dombas door hasn’t been right and is cracked at hinges I used my family card didn’t know anything about this.,
do you have to call them first
This is as old as time, been around ever since the Family card was introduced.
Still, good for those who didn't know, but this isn't anything new

I have claimed 2 times once on a chest of draws that I broke while assembling and another on a glass mirror broke on the way home both were replaced with out any fuss it was really good service on their behalf
They've been doing this for ages
I never knew that. Will definitely be swiping my card more often! That’s op
I went to ikea last month to try and buy some drawer runners. I explained to them that I wanted some because my son kept leaning down on the drawers when he opened them and after owning he wardrobe unit for about 18months they broke.

They didn’t have any in stock but took my address and posted me out a pack free of charge. Didn’t even ask for a receipt - best customer service experience I’ve ever had.

Bought an indoor tree, took it home, put it outside, it died, took it back, got a refund
Wow I didn't know about this so thank u op
I got the expedit tv unit. Almost finished and dropped a part and broke. Went online and set up return. Dismantled but no one came on the day! Tried to complain through online and phone. Horrible experience as no one was able to help until randomly a chap phoned and straight away offered apology and £30 to use in-store and get item replaced asap. I was happy after that.

I assembled the small Malm chest of drawers and I stupidly nailed the backboard on the front instead of the back. I took it to the store fully assembled and they gave me a new box with no questions. Lucky I had scanned my family card.
I've used this as well, a few minor communication problems but otherwise an excellent service.

While constructing a chest of draws pushing in one of the wooden dowels caused the wood to split. I emailed them and they quickly came back and asked for a picture which I provided.

Roll forward a few days and I had not heard back but I was heading over to the store so I decided to jump on live chat to see if I could get the part while there. This is where the communication issue happened, the chat team did have access to the email I had sent with the image but I explained it was the "left panel of one of the draws", they happily agreed to replace and said it would ship from the factory in Sweden.

Now in the proceeding few days while waiting for that I got a reply from the email I had sent also saying they had shipped a replacement. The part from the chat team arrived and they had actually sent the entire left panel "of the draws" not of "a draw" complete with three rollers, this is now sat in my garage as a spare.

A day or so later the part from the email team arrived, this was the correct part but was saddly damaged when I opened it, not sure if sent like that or damaged in transit but I emailed back with another picture and this time within 24 hours they had sent another replacement which arrived just fine.

So a few problems and took a couple of weeks to get completly resolved but considering most places would just say hard luck if you damaged it certainly can't complain, could probablly have resolved a lot quicker in store but it is a 30 minute drive so stuck to online.
Love Ikea, love this deal.

In theory you might not, however anything stored in "your" account is actually in which ever companies control and could in theory be changed or deleted. A printed receipt remains in your control and will be proof if a company you are dealing with every tries to be dodgy.

That's outsourcing for you, it's cheaper but a brilliant way of ruining your business.

Too help CS staff ?

Some may not be trained how to track prior purchases , have the privileges to do so or simply their infrastructure doesn’t support it

Not much to ask for to retain a receipt till you get home ( or till you’ve built it at least !
