Free Ikea accidental damage insurance

Found 13th Apr 2014
I just noticed that if you are an IKEA family member (free to join) and you swipe your card when making a purchase your purchase is covered against accidental damage when transporting the item home and also when building the item (see their terms and conditions). I thought that I would share this with others as I never realised this before

didn't realise it was during building too. heat from me!

Yes I read this earlier today and was amazed at this proposal
They will insure certain item for 90days and against transport and assembly
now tell me who does that even for one day accidental damage..,.,.

this is good on Ikea(What is this) it certainly makes you think who should you go to buy the goods from....

thanks OP I was thinking of posting it but didn't think relevant at the time hope HUKD'rs see it a good post....

The insurance was on going for years! Good job OPS for reminding and refreshing it
Two thumbs up for you X)

Neva new bout this

hot hot hot

Wow never knew this... Thank you very much..

Known about this for ages. Not new. Not a deal. Cold.

FYI Doesn't cover the reduced items area, bought something in that area and the delivery men damaged it, it was fine in store, had to fight tooth and nail to get money back. thought I would mention this as it doesn't apply to everything.

Thanks for the information and brought many things this last few weeks and good to know.
I thing this post is aimed at people how don't know, then to people how do know.
thanks to mystery_manfound I know too. have some heat..

Thanks. I'm sure a lot people did not know about this.

Benefit does not apply to purchases made from IKEA Shop Online, IKEA gift cards, IKEA cafe, IKEA
Bistro, IKEA Swedish food market, IKEA restaurant.
Benefit does not apply to purchases picked, transported, assembled or installed as part of our additional
IKEA services, as they are covered by the service provider

the way I read it is It does state if transported by them your not covered anyway so your argument would have to be taken up with the delivery company anyway.

I think it only applies if you transport item home yourself and you brake item putting it in and out your car or when building item at home basically if you drop it or brake it yourself.

yep, ikea initially said it was them delivering, then it was a different company, then it was them, then when they unloaded they dinged a cabinet off the van which i wouldn't sign for and made them return. Ikea are great until you have a problem, and i would hate for someone to go through the same as i did, the way they put it it makes it seem like you're covered for anything, no free phone numbers to the people you need to speak to and it took around 3 weeks to get my money back because ikea didn't even know who they had paid to deliver my cabinet. I'm a regular ikea customer, but their cs is **** when you need it.
