Just need to buy an initial minimum of £10 credit (which becomes £13 with the promo code, and possibly another £3 which is already on the sim, making it £16 credit). Plus you get £2 cashback with TopCashBack.
Thought this was a good deal. You get a choice to choose your own GOLD number (like 07550001000), or use your old one...for free!
Also the card comes with up to £5 free credit**

Text messages cost 6p, and it's 9p per minute for calls to other mobiles. Also the old Ikea sim I had worked in my mobile locked to T-mobile/Virgin - even though I'm sure it doesn't use that network.

Use voucher code Billy30 when you sign up for a SIM card and get the 30% free extra credit.

*Use the free credit within 30 days. Offer is valid until 31.10.09.
To use our service your mobile phone will need to be unlocked.

**Youll get £3 free credit with your SIM card.
If you select Automatic top-up now you get an extra £2 free credit

My point was they are not the cheapest payg service as you stated in your post.

You can migrate your number to ASDA. Being able to select from 'Gold' numbers is great.. provided someone hasn't beaten you to the number you want, or if they've intentially retained the most highly valued numbers.

didn't give me option of gold number :-(

Yeah, I did the same thing as you.. if you sign-up following the smaller link at the top of the page you do get the option, if you click on one of the banners to the side, it fails to give you that screen.

If you go to familymobile.co.uk/join you should see the relevant page. It does it via 5 steps.. Choose number > Address > Terms > Payment > Confirmation

Have to top up minimum £10 to start with, shame I got a nice number!

I assume we will be able to port the number out of ikea family mobile? That would be the only I reason I would sign up for this to begin with.

I went ahead and ordered one and got a cracking number: 07-ww-xx-yy-zz-x

I had 07 5500 12301 in mine, decided not to bother though

Not cheaper than below.http://www.asda-mobile.com/?node_id=1.2

ikea mobile is cheaper than asda if you go to asda mobile phone charges page numbers 0845 0870 0844 asda charges between 30 to 40 pence a minute. ikea charges 12 a minute to these numbers.

The tesco value tariff is pretty good, 8p per minute,4p per text , 0800 and 0845 numbers included, billing in seconds too so nasty rounding up to the next minute like some big networks
