I've been using this free app for a while now and find it great for when i want to send photo's or voice memo and video's to friends as it's all free. As far as i know it also works on Blackberry and Android but i cannot confirm this. I hope this helps somebody :0)

Again what he said, with pingchat its like having an amstrad video phone, there is no point if no one else has one.

WhatsApp is amazing, once you've tried it, its likely you'll be using it very often!

Although you can't send pictures on from Nokia using Whatsapp

You can use pingchat on Blackberry as well, I use to to message someone with an iphone.

cheers people.. downloaded the whatsapp and tried that.. seems alot better.. more options/settings.. e.g can use the indiviual personal notifications.. pics wasnt going threw to friends blackberry also via pingchat but was on whatsapp.. lets you see who in your phone is using it also without even having to find there details first..

Excellent, thanks.

Nice one! Thanks

Ping Chat is ok. But it's very slow in comparison to Whatsapp, ok it costs 59p, but in my opinion I feel that it was worth it, and it depends on what the people on your contacts use really. Whether it's Ping or Whatsapp.

hmm i downloaded #whatsapp today for android and came free for a year so is it 59p after the years up?? or is that the iphone price??

I feel this app is like the solution for a lot of problems. My brother is always a Blackberry person & I am an iPhone person he always insisted I got a blackberry and me the other way around. Here is the solution. I remember seeing this app on the Gadget show also. It was promoted very positively.

It's nice to hear something positive so thank you

I'm a ping chat user on android and ipod touch, I've also tried to use whatsapp too but its not compatible with my task manager (whatsapp was asking me to uninstall it - which seems a bit daft when I would have added the app to the ignor list "/)

The only thing with PingChat is you have to have separate accounts for each device you install it on but other than that I've never had any problems with it.

oh btw WhatsApp is free on android atm

great little app

I totally agree, i love it!!!

Just got this for my new phone. Are there any other great free apps for Droid?

Recent update to pingchat makes sending messages very fast, use ping for mates in canada (god knows how much I've saved from sending tons of picture messages via ping)

hi ! i cant find the whatsapp app for the iphone in the uk appstore. is this right ?

This seems good. Allows Blackberry, too. However, it took about 2 minutes for a simple text message saying 'testing' from upstairs to downstairs. Not that great speed. I will check out What'sApp, too. Hopefully the user interface is just as good as pingchat.
