Free kids entry to various attractions (eg Edinburgh Zoo) with paying adult with valid Scotrail ticket

If you buy a valid adult ticket on Scotrail routes, you can get a "Kids go free" ticket which allows up to two 5-15 year olds to travel free. The kids ticket also gets the child free entry to some great attractions (link in first post).

Scotrail have confirmed to me on Twitter that ANY "kids go free" rail ticket gets you the free entry provided it is dated the same day as you attend the attraction. This means that it is possible to get a child's entry to Edinburgh Zoo (usually £13.50) for as little as £1.80 (based on an adult buying a ticket between two nearby stations and taking the free child ticket option - not sure if the adult ticket can be any cheaper but this example is based on the two nearest stations to me)

Hope this all makes sense - it's a little convoluted but there's a chance to save a few quid during the school holidays!

Sounds unlikely.

It works. Waverley to haymarket is 4.40. So 2.2 to get the kids in each. There had been more difficult deals on this site

Can someone please give me step by step on how to do this if I buy them online

We used this last year, great deal

Can I just check. If the ticket you get for the jouney your ticket for the kids go free deal? Also if anyone knows you have to book the panda viewing through the Edinburgh Zoo website. However I don't see how you can do that with this offer.

Yes, the kids train ticket doubles up as the ticket for entry to the attraction. The adult can't pre-book a ticket for, eg, the zoo, has to be bought on the door but you should be able to book a slot to view the pandas there though. The indoor show dens are currently closed though given the female is thought to be pregnant - edinburghzoo.org.uk/new…te/

Cheapest return I can find is a CDR AGS(Argyle Street)-GLC(Glasgow Central) = £1.30

Your train ticket doesn't have to be from the same day as the visit. We travelled to Edinburgh on Monday 6th July and used our tickets to visit both the Camera Obscura and Edinburgh Zoo on different days throughout the week. The just check the ticket says kids go free.

I might just be thick but it says to download a voucher for the 2 for 1 deals, I want to visit the Edinburgh Dungeons but can't seem to find the voucher to download, anyone help, thanks

You don't need a voucher, the kids train ticket doubles up as the entry ticket. Not long back in from a day out at the Zoo so can personally vouch for it now!

I'm planning a trip in the Easter holidays to Edinburgh and would like to use the kids free entry to the attractions, can someone explain how I do this?

So if we get the bus from are Caravan park seton stands to Edinburgh can we just nip to the train station & get the adults return then go to the zoo or do you have to jump on the train to do the journey lol
