Thanks. Never spotted this before. Just registered

What happens if you already have a higher level of qualifications like a degree or masters? Are you still eligible to study?

i am guessing this is a certificate type of course so even with a degree or masters (in another subject), this is what employers get their employees to go on if need to brush up on latest knowledge and good practice in those areas eg. CS, etc.

tried before, got sent a form, sent form back, they sent it back to me.... made me tick a box I didn't want to about doing a level 2 course, I sent it back to them with said box ticked, I waited, and they turned me down!.

i think you can. not 100% sure. i remember when i did my last course the conditions were that i had to be over 18 and be a uk resident.)

You have to complete the course, otherwise you will incur a fee.

does anyone know how long is the duration of the course ?

I might do the business one, can you let me know what it's like so far Razu? Thanks

Funding is usually based on "previous level of qualification" in the "same subject area". I have a Level 4 teaching qualification, Level 3 IT qualifications but they accepted me on to the Level 2 Business and Administration course (passed two assessments so far - boom!). If you have a Level 3 or 4 in Business and Administration funding wouldn't be available for enrolment on to the Level 2 Business and Administration course. I hope this makes sense?!

Completed the IT Level 2 last year, once you have passed be prepared for a LOONG wait! took almost 5-6 months for mine to come through.

Also, your time limit is usually provided when you sign up and you can complete all the assignments in a week IF your tutor marks them and is happy with your work.

You will be allocated a college and a tutor who you contact through their own internal system.

The course is pretty helpful to brush up on your skills and just adds something to your CV.

Do you actually have to go to a college to do assessments or anything or is it all done via online?

its very easy, they give you access to online learning portal. Once studying 2 hours on that portal which includes around 25 pages I was able to complete unit 1 assignment and passed it. It has 5 units and have to do all units. Should not take more than 1 month if you spend 10 hours every week.

You honestly cannot fail as for every unit you get support and guidance on what you need to work on.

You check out the feedback, do alterations, submit again for marking.

This was on I think watchdog last year. about these type of course, they want you to pass in 6 weeks (or a low level of time) normally take 10 months to pass. so it's sort of a scam cus very few would be able to pass in such a short time, so you end up paying (some of these type course can cost over £500). so be very very careful.

I passed my equality and diversity course earlier this year. It's not a scam you complete the work you get the qualification. I don't think you can fail as the tutors really help you. So it's free apart from your time obviously!

Good luck x

I not long since did a level 3 Business administration course.. These usually takes 18 months to complete. All in all the including exam time took around a week and a half to finish and pass, this was on top of Full time work. I can;t see a level 2 course needing 10 months to complete. I wouldn't call it a scam if people aren't willing to put the time in.

Razu, what was the equality and diversity about exactly? sounds interesting but would hate to go for it and then find it isn't what I thought. thanks

Applied for the level 2 IT thingy doubt ill get funding seeing as I'm currently in full time employment but worth a punt.

How do I apply for the business admin one and customer service one please?

Did anyone notice one of the requirements for the package is that you have a computer running Windows? Silly question but does that mean I won't be able to do it with me having a Mac?

Did anyone notice one of the requirements for the package is that you have a computer running Windows? Silly question but does that mean I won't be able to do it with me having a Mac?

How do these sorts of course effect benefits claims? Would I be dropped off of JSA, I mean it seems like something good to put on your CV.

For anyone asking about these courses.. they are a handy and convenient way to get a basic level 2 in NVQ. you can do it up to 16 weeks depending on the course. if you have already achieved a higher level in any of the subjects then they wont accept you onto a level 2 (not sure why you would want level 2 though if you have a higher equiv). All level 2 and level 1 courses are funded through a government initiative program and it doesnt matter where in england you live as any college in england can enroll you. I have been working on the Business and Admin course and usually complete each unit in a couple of hours but the tutor will send you feed back, which will usual say a section needs amended, this seems the norm now when you go too fast. but have now passed the first 3 units out of 5 which has only took 1 month so far since signup. If you dont complete the units by the set times or decide you want to drop out then they can charge you a setup fee which they get charged themselves which mine said £65. so hope this helps. I have recently completed a diploma in support services at a college near me and they stretched it out to 14 months so getting this within max 16 weeks is pretty good. I am doing my current one through a company called vision2learn and they have been pretty good, and they assigned me to a college ealing, hammersmith and west london college even though I live in the lakes..

If you reside in Scotland

The situation at the moment is that we do not yet have a college in Scotland to support vision2learn learners. We are continuing to attempt to get a college or colleges in Scotland to take learners living in Scotland and access funding via the Scottish Further Education Funding Council. We will let you know as soon as we have a college that will enrol you.

If you reside in Wales

The situation at the moment is that we do not yet have a college in Wales to support vision2learn learners. We are continuing to attempt to get a college or colleges in Wales to take learners living in Wales and access funding via ELWa. We will let you know as soon as we have a college that will enrol you.

If you reside in Northern Ireland

The situation at the moment is that we do not yet have a college in Northern Ireland to support vision2learn learners. We are continuing to attempt to get a college or colleges in Northern Ireland to take learners living in Northern Ireland and access funding via DEL. We will let you know as soon as we have a college that will enrol you.

Heat added. I've just applied for equality and diversity as it sounds interesting.

I would like to know this to

lol u cant fail cos ur tutor returns ur assignment back to u telling u where to make amendments. and some courses like the business one, you dont have to take an exam at all!

topic title says UK but its England only

Any ideas if you can get funded for more than one in the same year? Need brush up on IT, but Customer Service would be good on my CV as job searching in that area. So not sure which to pick if can only do one. Thanks for info too, didnt even realise was possible

So if you sign up, do you have to go anywhere for an exam or test at the end of it?

What if you have lots of free time, will they let you complete the whole thing in a short period of time if you're a quick learner?
